Best area for first Golden ride & dealerships in the area?

Hey guys, a group of us are heading to Golden towards the end of the month, is there any areas that you would recomend more than others? We have been to the mountains before and would say we are decent mountain riders, but I wouldn't say any of us are advanced. So far Gorman and Quartz look like the best places to check out first?

Also is there a Ski-doo dealership and a Polaris dealership around Golden if we need anything?

Check out Silent Pass. Take highway towards Radium and turn at Parson. Depending on the snow, the logging road might be 20-30kms to the parking area. We're sask boys also, rode Quartz and Silent last year, Silent was our fav over Quartz. There is/was a Ski-doo dealer, as well as A-Cat and Yamaha dealers, but no Polaris when we were there.

Be careful in Gorman. Been some world class slides in that area in the past.

stating the obvious ya got any? yer askin about gorman u have to go through avi alley to even get in there, silent has it's areas also, so does quartz, you give little info so ya get what ya get.

you are also a new member on here, again get the training if ya don't have it!!!!!!! or your buds, maybe don't be so friggin arogant when someone gives advice, if ya have training good for you. but when yer askin newb questions what the fawk do ya expect.

Yeah, we have been briefly discussed looking into a guide for the area I was going to make a few calls in the next few days to at least see what is available for guides and prices. Thanks!

i gave you the best advice you'll ever get. your lives may depend on it. these areas are very avi prone. and now with the snow loads they have gotten, you think i'm being an azz. good friggin luck dude, you may need it.

Quartz creek would be good one for you to go to You have a cabin to warm up in and a groomed trail in. Fairly easy to
Navigate around in, follow the trail in to the cabin then after that left or right. Silent Pass is another good one, follow the trail in then up the switchbacks when you get to them, after that I usually take the first left up the hill with the beaten out path, straight then you drop down onto a bit of a lake, right and you can continue to ride from lake to lake, climbing the hills around them, trees around the lakes to ride in as well. Wherever you go you'll have a good time and be safe.

wow nasty, i think speed was just asking for Help yikes..anyway there is a dealer in golden its called banner rec and marine they do bombardier that is all i know of ill ask some buddies that go there and get back 2u.

I'm one of the guys riding with speedy740 this week sounds like speedy and Imdoo'n have gotten off on the wrong foot but just wondering if you think it is necessary for us to have taken actual avi class. Cause that we have not. But we do have all the necessary equipment probe, beacon,shovel,etc. and we know how to use it and practice regularly. If you think a class would help do you know of any in the area. thanks for your input

Looks as though you are a local if we need or would like a guide are you interested in going for a ride or can you suggest a guide for us. We are not super advanced riders but not exactally our first time out either. Let us know we are coming up next weekend. thanks

Yes you learn SO much in the Avi training I would strongly recommend it to anyone who is going into the back country. I did my Avi 1 course with www.hangfiretraining.com

if you are going by yourselves it is recommended, a guide should have the skills already and impart such knowledge to keep ya safe. if ya have training great, no harm done but being arogant puts yer life on the line. you will be in avi terrain with the places suggested, and they are dangerous. was in the same areas a couple years ago and some sask riders, where putting our lives in danger by riding above stuck riders on very avi prone areas in gorman. obviously no training or common sense. young speedy asked for advice and i gave him some of the best you'll ever get. may even save your lives. take it as you will. i'm gonna sit back and see what happens.
