I'm not sure if this would work or not but is it possible to power up the sled with a 12v battery and then try to start it to see if it will show a code? I know on my pro there's an ecu plug in the harness by belt and you can power up the sled? Maybe can save you a few bucks.

Alot of work to start from scratch. But it eases the mind. You said you had a ecu plug the was loose, and managed to get spark back. Really look into that plug harness again. Any pushed in pins on the plug? I think you are on the right track. If I remember correctly, Theres a harness on the dragon that always fails. Not sure if that was specific to the 900 or all. I think its backfiring because it's loading with fuel then backfiring when it does get the sporadic spark.

Are you sure it's getting fuel? Did you prime the fuel pump? There is a plug you need to apply 12V to and it will prime the fuel system. There is also a plug to power up the ecu. Both plugs are down on the front left side by the pipe. If you have a manual it will show you which is which. The fuel prime is a two wire plug, the ecu is a three wire. Make sure you do it correctly. I don't think powering up the ECU will show you any codes. It should start and idle even if there is a trouble code.
