Stock track on the Axys doesn’t seem to last long between not being fully clipped and just not being a durable track they don’t seem to lest a season 2000-2500 miles and they are done.

I’ve got to try quite a few different tracks on my sleds this year and so figured I’d share what I’ve noticed between them on the sleds. I’ve been able to compare the stock 155 2.6, 155 3” , 163 2.6 ,163 3” , 163 X3 , 163 280 conquer , 163 power claw

X3 up until this season has been my go to favourite track. Works great in deep powder, works in heavy or setup snow. Track gets great traction pops up on the snow quick and great for climbing. Coming down a steep decent works good very predictable. Track is very durable I’ve had multiple and no issues. Also holds up great with boost. Lugs will start to role back over time but perform and durability are good in all conditions over stock track.

280 conquer I would never have bought this track but it came on a sled I bought. By far the worst track I’ve tried on an axys for performance. Only to things it does well is trench and make the skis go to the sky. No exaggeration sled would flip over up a small climb if not letting out. No suspension or limiter strap changes would help it work. Track is not durable at all and by far the track I’ve ever had on a boosted sled.

Power Claw. The power claw replaced the 280 so if anyone is thinking that it was setup not the track the sled went from not rideable and horrible in the trees to amazing. Skis lift when climbing is super manageable just out of the snow. Track works amazing in all snow conditions when you think you might be stuck it finds traction and keeps going I was super impressed with the performance. Tree riding when you have to do a slower section of your close to being stuck it just seemed to keep grabbing traction more then once I though I was stuck and it pulled through.
Only down side coming down a steep decent it doesn’t work as well as the X3 it can almost get out of control a bit to easy sometimes.

Stock 3 155 and 163. Performance in deeper snow works ok not near as good as the X3 or the power claw but much better then the 280. Setup snow or heavy snow lugs fold easy and it will spin out easy in hard packed. With a turbo it’s not a good track at all it’s to soft lugs fold and it spins easy. Steep descent it’s ok better then the power claw.
Durability is horrible tracks need clips for 16-18, drivers ratchet easy, has to be run to tight for how I like, fibreglass rods break and lugs rip off easy. 2500 km tracks.

Stock 2.6 performance in deep snow is ok not the best but in lower snow conditions seemed to work better then the 3” stock tracks and much better in heavy snow. With a turbo it seems to work better then the 3” lugs don’t fold as much. Down hill is ok about the same as the 3”. Durability is horrible just like the 3” maybe slightly better but not much.

So to sum it up, what would you buy for the next one?

Would be between the X3 and power claw. X3 is a little cheeper both seem to hold up good and great performance. My plan is to take both sleds up with the x3 and power claw at the same time in deep snow and compare the to straight up it’s really close.

I am curious to see this Camso Epic. The 280 Conquer has had mixed reviews from day one. Most people have agreed it really needs to be broken in for 400-500 miles before it softens up enough. The Epic could be a great track or an epic failure. lol

The design of the epic looks like it’s going to bring a lot of snow into the tunnel instead of evacuate out the back to me but we will see.

The Conquer on my sled had 600 miles when I got it and I put another 200-300 miles I’d guess.

Tunnel pressure hasn’t been a concern on the Pro due to lack of evacuation but I stopped running a snow flap as well which really helped. Sleds with front coolers may have more of an issue with snow not clearing well.

There has been quite a bit of talk on the Composite M67 track South if the border. I am not sure if anyone up here has been running one.

Not so much tunnel pressure but bribing more snow up into the tunnel seems to go hand and hand with tracks that trench and don’t pop up in the snow as quick from my experience. I could be wrong or describing it wrong but tracks that work well seem to send more snow behind the sled instead of into the tunnel

Bringing up a older thread, so it looks like my stock 2.6 on my 163 is toast (1500kms). Has anybody tried the Camso Epic 280? Also I've never had to change or buy a new track. What info do I need to make sure I'm buying the right one and how big of a job is to swap out? My sled is a 16 Axys 163

The 2019 2.6 is much better durability. They figured out that the clip has to be in the right spot. No more track failures. I have found the 2.6 to be a decent performer for a stock track.
