Axys 800 Reliability

Hey everyone. Just wondering how the new 800s are compared to the old 800s? I have a 2013 RMK Assault and was thinking about upgrading to a new Axys 800. Do they need fix kits, or anything? Oil pumps turned up? Clutch springs and weights? Or good enough out of the box, grip it and rip it, no worries? Do the motors have any known failures that need addressing like the old 800s did?

Not looking for chirping about other brands or how crappy Polaris is, but want to hear from real experience of people running these sleds and motors, just so I know what I'm getting into.

I had 3500 trouble free kms on my 16 axys. The odd electrical problems ( simple fix is dialectic grease) and motor mounts are the main issues I’ve heard people having. My 800 ran Better then my 2019 rmk 850.

I was lucky enough to own 2 Axys 800's(SKS 155 and a Assault 155). Coming from a dialed in SWB 144 800, I was very impressed with the new chassis and the awesome new 800. Both 800's were trouble free. I agree clutching and exhaust are great improvements. This year Im on a SKS 850 155. Hopefully its as good as I am reading.

but in all seriousness, I have owned 2-2012 pros 1 turboed and had a 2013 with 5600 trouble free kms on it and the fella that bought it now has over 7000km's on it and still going all of them had the oil pumps turned up and i put new top ends in at around 2500kms even when they looked like new and the compression was good, it was a preventative maintenance thing.I then bought an early release 2016 axys with a 163 3" that i loved and till this point has been by far my favorite machine, that being said it had a bad wiring harness that mid way into the season started acting up and was at the stealership 4 times before they decided to call polaris and speak to a tek that ran the vin and knew right away it was a bad harness and i was sidelined for almost 3 weeks while i waited for the updated harness that and i did have one of my relays fail which was a $19 dollar part and a 3 minute change on the mountain. when i got the machine back it ran flawlessly and I sold it to a friend that is not one maintenance and bags on everything and it currently has 48-4900km's on it and going strong. I know the 18s and up have had all the little issues worked out but it being a motor any one of them can and do have issues regardless of brand and don't be fooled by those who say otherwise and there are lots on here that will.. LOL .. there is no way of turning up the oil'er in an axys and they use more oil than the older pro did and don't believe that to be an issue. i also don't think the fix kit is as prevalent in these machines either. I now have a 2019 850 axys and I believe the newer 800 is more reliable as mine is a first yr motor and they have had some issues... So in my experience with the older pros and the axys I would say go for it you wont be disappointed and if you do the regular maintenance and look after it it will give you many yrs of enjoyment!... good luck with you choice!

Umm 4300 km???

Why how many km's have you got on your axys 800?.. did it blow up or is it still running?? and what have you done to your axys 800 to make it better or is it stock? and what issues have you had with it?.. the fella that started this thread wants to hear peoples experiences that are running these sleds...

I hope more than the 2600km our riding buddy Dan got on his 2016 T3-174 before it blew up... again they all fail, and as the fella that started this thread mentioned this is about peoples experiences with the older style pro 800 engine in relation to the newer axys 800 engine and what things they have done to prolong engine life and other suggested upgrades.
But I asked the other guy about 4300 km

Rebuilt meaning?? Top end, top and bottom??

LMAO... well how many on your axys? or are you shopping for one and are curious as well? or perhaps your a polaris mechanic and are looking to learn more? i'm sure your here in the polaris thread for one of the above reasons correct?... ;)

That's true you do tend to make a lot of comments without any personal experience, or at least you do on the polaris sleds anyway...

I believe they refer to "you people" as trolls... LOL;)

and if you read the fellas comments that started this thread you will see he was asking for peoples PERSONAL EXPERIENCE with these sleds... and you my friend have ZERO experience with the polaris 800 or the axys chasis itself... so move on sledsy ;)and perhaps try and help those in the XM section with electrical issues and such. something you have first hand experience with...LMAO :beer:

I apologize to you Heimie for the banter from my end Im just trying to stay true to what you asked for.. real experience. TEX78 on the other hand... not so much... LOL

Thanks everyone for the replies. Very helpful. Unfortunately some things have come up and I will be riding my old snow tractor for this season. However I am a lot more confident in looking at used Axys machines now!

As for the banter back and forth, we all know it was coming, here on Doo and Mud. Ha!

I will be looking for an Axys in the future and this research and feedback has been very helpful. My ‘13 Assault is a good sled and I wanted to get into the new chassis on a regular RMK, not Assault, and not an SKS. The old 800 motor issues doesn’t have me nervous, but with everyone’s comments the new 800 or 850, that gets me excited.

2016 800 Axys 163 x 3 - Jaws pipe and can, all mountain riding, 4600 km's to start this season, and new primary clutch.
Just did a leak down and was 2% both jugs. Compression at 120 & 125 psi on stock motor.
