ATV's Being Blamed for GrandPrarie Wildfires??

A colleague of mine heard on the radio (possibly 99.3) this morning that ATV's were responsible for the wildfires near Grand Prairie. I'm fairly certain this is a B.S. accusation. Does anyone have info on this?

The ATV itself would have to catch fire, or an extremely odd set of circumstances required to happen, for it to start a fire.
I could poor an entire gas can out on my driveway, and ride through it, and still not start a fire.
Would like to hear the real story about this.

Don’t fool yourself, more fires started deliberately than by ATV’s good revenue source for some.

We all know ATV's can start fires and most of us have seen it. My concern was that they were spreading some misinformation. It turns out that it was a caller that made the accusation and not part of a news report. Unfortunately, I do not know which radio station it was, so it would have been impossible to set the record straight anyway.

That is not good at all.

Yes it is very dry and even glass in the grass can cause fires

I met a crusty old fish cop girl that was accusing atvs for starting the Fort Mac fire,she said to me how would you feel if you started that fire.....I said it wouldn't be a problem since it wouldn't be intentional anyway....some are brain washed to hate atv.......one really bad machine I've noticed to start a fire is the rzr....hot head pipe right in the rear wheel well is stupid design

I spoke to the director of Wildfire Management when the fire ban was put on just before the long weekend.

He said the High Level fire was started by lightning. He admitted that the amount of fires that can be pinned on ATVs is very low and one of the lowest contributors, but felt that they had to do everything they can to stop the possibility of ANY fires starting because the extremely dry condition and at that time there were strong winds from the Southeast, which is apparently bad for fires. I was surprised to even get a call from someone with any authority, and we talked for awhile. While I was upset about the fire ban being announced just before the long weekend, after I talked to him I couldn't really argue with him too much. He did mention that they have evidence that the Fort McMurray fire was started by ATVs, but I didn't press the issue.

You mean trudumb and his hired guys started the fort Mac fire so I have seen on Facebook , cause a carbon tax with change the weather and climate change

Well RCMP claim Arson was responsible for 29 forest fires in BC, wonder how many were started in Alberta?
