Hey everyone

I was talking to a friend who heard through the grapevine about a Atv trail in between valemount and revelstoke. A run like that sounds awesome!

I was wondering if anyone has done this run or heard of it. Any information would be cool.

Happy riding everyone.

If you follow FSRs you can get most of the way from Valemount to Mica. You'd have to get pretty creative to make the connection though.

Think near the Foster Arm north of Mica is all logged from a barges, ie no direct road access, that's the case for the heli-ski lodge there for sure,
you can only get part way

Heading south from Valemount, the Canoe West FSR goes under Kinbasket Lake about halfway between the S bends and Foster Arm. The same FSR daylights again across the lake from the Mica Heli-Ski Lodge not too far north of the Mica Dam. Is about a 20 km. gap at full pool and even though Kinbasket Lake drops about 30 m. over the winter and would expose more of the FSR in the spring do not think there is a way around Foster Arm even at low pool. Before the valley was flooded by the construction of the Mica Dam the locals drove from Valemount to Golden and Revelstoke using the Canoe West FSR and the old Big Bend Highway. Much of the old Big Bend Highway is flooded between Mica Dam and Golden but the road from Mica Dam to Revelstoke is what is left of the Big Bend Highway.

I used to live in a logging camp( fords camp) after the valley was flooded.I worked at the mill that was built to reclaim all the wood.
That was an awesome drive before they flooded , and man the dolly varden and rainbow were plentiful and huge!! I also fought the forest fire that was threatening the mill. That was in the mid 70's. I still have relatives in Valemount and Golden.

Lol that was in the 70's you think I can remember. At my age I'm lucky to remember what happened yesterday.
I think it was Selkirk. $10 an hour piling cants on the green chain. The whole place was run by a giant komatsu diesel generator. It was fun hearing that thing fire up in the morning the whole ground shook. They used tug boats to gather the floaters in the lake.

Thanks for all the great info guys! I'm going to do more digging, I'm thinking it's possible. Talked to a friend who lives at 70 mile he runs a outfitting company and if we can get to mica we can come down on the west side and take his barge across.

I work for SMS equipment and we sell Komatsu construction and mining equipment. We have never brought in gen sets etc but some customers would purchase over seas or via brokers. Those big displacement engines certainly shake and roll when started up cold,

Imdooin will post a picture of a parking lot soon....THEN the thread can be considered derailed. Haha. An ATV run from Valemont to Revy would definitely be a cool ride.
