Great ride yesterday. Trails are decent up to the Shelter and excellent beyond. The further north you go the better the trails and snow!

Is a trail pass required for Atlas and the trails around that area? I have an ASA pass but heard nothing is needed for that area. Thanks!

Your ASA Trail Pass allows you to ride all ASA Trails in Alberta. Here is a quote from ASA documentation:

"Purchasing the ASA Trail Pass enables snowmobilers unlimited snowmobiling on ASA trails while supporting the volunteer clubs, which develop, maintain, sign and groom the trails."

I had the camera with but with it mostly snowing where we sledded, the camera and batteries were too cold to shoot any pics. I have to remember to put some batteries in my inner-pocket next time to keep them warm so I can take a few. Usually when it is a bluebird day the sun keeps the camera warm. I rode Atlas with my Family last sat. and was surprised at how good the trails were. There was 'bout 1.5 ft beside the trail (we only got to about 1/2 way to the cabin before turning around).

The main road going north had been plowed so snow on it was skinny. I'm not sure if we were supposed to be on it but once we got onto the skinnier sled trails all was good (west side of the road).

Can anyone tell me are you aloud to drive up the main road as far as you want and park along side the road to stage or into a pullout if you can get into one?

It's probably not illegal but the staging area is huge at Atlas so why not just park there. People do ride the road once in a while and do not expect to meet a vehicle on it. Just saying.

I know the staging area is huge was just looking at going up to Dutch or further and thought if the road was in good shape whould save a few miles of trail..

Why do you not stage more in that area then, Racehorse Creek Recreation Area has a staging area if I remember correctly?

Sledhead i didn't know that as I usually ride Golden, but have rode Corbin, York Creek and Atlas in the past but a few of us are taking the wifes out to the pass this weekend and thought we would try in that direction. Do you have any directions for that staging area ??

the road is a bit light on snow in spots .... it is not being plowed past the staging area

Not to bust someone's bubble but there was 30-40 cm in the Rolling Hills at the end of the Coal Creek trail today.

Got a good dump of snow in Atlas area yesterday and sounds like a great blue-bird day today. Hope someone gets a chance to head out and take a few pics of the area today. If anyone does get a chance to take some pics, please do send them to me webmaster@crowsnow.org and I would really like to add them to the picture rotation scenario on the website; several hundred images are randomly placed on majority of pages on the Crow Snow Riders website

I am always getting great comments from folks who visit the website about the images, so even if you have pics from days gone by, send them in and we will put them up as well.

I don't think you'd get much farther, about 1km down the road there is a corner that drifts in and it's hard packed by sleds driving over it. The road had not been plowed recently but I could see the small banks on the side of the road that it had once been plowed.

Anyone ridden out of Racehorse recently? I've never riden out of there and was considering trying it out?
