Had a lot of people ask me about the wildcat, compared to a rzr,how it works....EtcEtc.
So here are a few thoughts and results after putting some hard miles on it. The comparisons i will make are mostly against RZR 800s 900s 1000s , .I would expect similar results compared to a Maverick as well ,as these are the BIG 3.
Mine is a 2013.5 1000 HO non X limited. Similar power to a 900 rzr xp. The CAT X model has a lot more power than mine....well over 90.
THESE ARE MY IMPRESSIONS<NOT FACTS , BUT REAL WORLD RIDING RESULTS
PROS:
***** PRICE$$ Cheaper than a RZR S
*****The suspension, best of the 3 hands down
*****The ride, unreal!! Best of the 3 in the knarly stuff & high speed handling.
*****The frame....same thing. Tube chassis NICE
*****The twin fan rear radiator, simply the best for mudding bar none.......
**** The seats, well made ultra comfortable.
****The axles, best out of the big 3
*** Diff lock, it works well and is solid.
** Vision is very good.
** Power& clutching are more than enough, others have more though.
CONS:
*****Too long for tight trails
*****Does not turn tight (There is cheap a fix though)
*****If you love to get MUDDY this is your ride
****Fenders are tree magnets
****Steering is too slow
**Shifting is a little finicky at times
**Decals suck
**Needs better radius rods (same as 900/1000 rzrs)
*Bumpers are just for looks
Compared to a RZR ,i would say the Cat is a more single purpose machine. What it does well ,it does REALLY well......And vice versa. Where as a rzr is great all around, but not the best in any one area. In the mud and at high speed the cat is tough to beat....On tight twisty trails it sucks the RZR eats it....
At our recent southfork ride i did my best to get it stuck, NO LUCK....Crank up the shocks and throw on 30s and this thing rocks......At 60 to 70 mph ,it rides like a trophy truck, the faster you ride it the more it shines.....The suspension is unmatched (imo)and the articulation gets you through everything, quite easily.
As i point out above,it has a few design flaws (for my riding),but the benifits out number them widely......
As far as standing up.No problems whatsoever,so far.....and i have / do not baby it.
Overall i would rate the wildcat very high, though that being said a
lot of riders might prefer the RZR/ Canam to it......The weak spots on the rzrs seem to be well known and easily fixed. The Canam utvs just have too many flaws (IMO) at this time.
BANG FOR THE BUCK !! The cat is a hell of a machine no dought ! Resale will be much lower though.
I will say it runs with other machines that cost 5 to 8 k more.........that is for sure.
IF , the NEW (2015) cats have the RUMORED yamaha (or) suzuki power plant in them ,i will own one.....HeHeHe
I repeat this is only" my opinion" based off owning and riding many SXS machines.....
So i may be brand loyal & full of chit,as well......Cheers.
