What are you trying to achieve? My buddy is an argo guy.. he's had them all I can ask him. Pulling, pushing, carrying?

They do ok in snow when empty. Even the argo centaur is decent. But start adding weight, and not so great.

They get hung up pretty easy in deep snow if breaking trail. And with tracks they don’t work in water.

Very slow. I actually despise Argos, they are good for floating muskeg when tracks are on them.

They work for for working in the skag for sure.
We've used the Argo Centaurs for pipeline access in the winter. Work ok pulling a small trailer even.
Lately the sherp has proven more useful though.

My dad used them for trapping. Deep fluffy stuff isn’t as bad as wet heavy snow. Get in deep wet heavy snow that doesn’t have any tracks then hangs up easy.

Hate to burst your bubble but i have a skidsteer with tracks and not enough speed with snow on hills, been there and done it.

we had several similar vehicles over the years to facilitate traveling the gulf coast marsh to goose hunt. they were generally pretty decent but they got high centered too easily. something to keep in mind as you pick a line.

Nothing will beat a sherp or fat truck in the elements. Very impressive machines.

TCPL has a bunch of sherps from Low Impact for a job near Simonette they are very cool... with a red hot price tag!

They are pretty impressive where they will go and how well they float.
We had a double stopple job up in Fort Mac and the sherp got me to the block valve site I had to man, way faster and more comfortable than a Argo in that deep snow.
140k price tag on it, but the rental was 750 per day.

Saw these Sherps out at Acheson very cool.
Either that or a Nodwell on tracks is what we used in the patch years ago and in the Arctic. Carry everything from the Derrick to drawworks and more depending on the size and deck. Not sure any of these are around but they work. Also used Foremosts those were just as good.- Thread starter

Thanks guys for the advice, appreciate it big time. I got a quote from the local dealer and was 40,000 for an open cab 8x8 with tracks. I guess snowshoes and snowmobiles it is. Tried the tracks on the sxs a few years ago and was stuck a lot in the spring snow and when you get high centered on a tracked sxs you're stuck for a while!

Why not a ski-doo Tundra, Skandic, or Expedition?
Everyone I know got rid of their argo's years ago, we even had a 6 wheel as kids. IMO they are the definition of "jack of all trades, master of none". They work in a multitude of situations, but excel in almost none of them. They float in water I guess. More often than not though we found they'd get stuck entering or leaving the water. Now that sucked, up to your waist in ice cold water in November hooking up the winch.
