by radios, you need road radios with the logging frequency, and call out your KM. you will also need to chain your truck up. if the loggers catch you cross threaded with ou chains they will be pissed.

was up there on the weekend, was ok. still need about 4 feet of snow to coverland mines. one guy from another group hit a rock with his m8. some front end damage. lots of logging going on there. watch out for the loggers(truckers). they left some logs across the road. very hard to cross 4foot diameter logs. we were at paint lake and down to the old trappers cabin. if you are going there make sure of radios and check with the loggers. ice scratchers are a must your sled will over heat. road is very icy all the way up.

Even with all the mills shut down (almost all around here), they're still out logging. Wonder where all the trees are heading?

We'll have to head to this area 51 this season, anyone got a radio they want to rent us? :d

Big mountains in that area. Very prone to wind loading. Be VERY carefull when the avy hazard is high. Also you are a long way from any rescuers, and no cell coverage.

A couple of years ago on spring snow we were way the fawk back there and met up with 5 or 6 riders that said they came in from the Vernon side. Does anyone know where they might have staged to get in to Paint Lake from the other side

Anyone been in lately and know what the road is like? Where's parking at these days? Are they still logging and how's the snow. Last real report was mid Dec so looking for something a little more recent.

Anyone ride 3 Valley Gap recently either?

In the spring it's tough. The roads in face the sun. (South) Drive till you hit snow. Unload and ride around a bend then ride 4 km of dirt to the next patch snow. Then repeat. Its a tough ride in. Once up top there's a way in by the lodge. The road is usually covered from slides. One year we shoveled a flat track at least 2 km. haven't tried this year but I'd imagine access would really suck due to low snow below 4500'
