And an even bigger question is why would a fellow ATVer post a pic like this online and bitch about it in an open forum? This just gives the eco nazi's more ammo for their fight.

Actually your bigger question would be just a method of deflecting attention away from what the OP's point is. He does have a legit point.

Like really! Who cares if this person is an environmentalist or anything else for that matter. It sounds to me like this is someone that has a brain and cares about an important subject. This person didn't personally attack you. Take a pill!

Ya know.....this is exactly the attitude that has caused many of the people who actually spend their personal time fighting for your access to just give up in frustration. The guy has made a very valid observation about damage being done to our image as motorized recreationalists...and he gets trashed for it.

Sometimes I wonder why I even bother! :realmad:

People bother because they either

#1 Care
or
#2 Are careless

I admit I cross a creek once in a while, but I don't treat our creeks and rivers like a car wash:nono:. Please show a little respect for our water:fish:. Without it we all will die! All it takes is a few people to do stupid things and all areas will be :drive::closed_2:

I have sat idle through this thread, but here ya go......

Just goes to show that sledders (and I am a sledder too) aren't much smarter!!!

You posted a good thread, but went about it kind of the wrong way. I do understand and appreciate the point you are trying to make.

Keep the vehicles out of the rivers. Cross by the shortest route possible on an existing trail and avoid spinning up the bank.

It tears up the river bottom, causes erosion and disturbs wildlife.

Case closed.

Then grow a spine and confront the person at the time of the incident. Let him know you think he shouldn't be doing this, what's the worst thing to happen? He might tell you to F!#@ off and mind your own business, then if you really feel he's wrecking the environment go tell a CO or cop or forestry/park employee. DON'T post a pic online that gives ammo to the opposing team. I've seen people do stupid stuff and I let them know they are screwing it up for the rest of us, I don't take a picture and chuck it up on an ATV forum with a rant against our own.

Maybe I am trying to open a dialog about this.
You mean I cannot have a say in this country/forum?
Do I care about beautiful riding areas yes!:D
Do I see them being abused by people with no vision yes!
Will 1 person washing a quad wreck anything....maybe, but look beyond one person to hundreds maybe thousands doing this.
Maybe I would like my children to experience ATVing, but look at the trails and think back 1, 2 or even 3 years and tell me that we cannot do better!
:twocents:I am no way associated with any environmental groups.....all I am trying to say is look at the BIG PICTURE! Use common sense! And if all else fails... call me names:rolleyes:

See my above post and you'll get my point. I'm on your side and don't rip up rivers/mud/grasslands and have no issue letting people know I see doing that they are the bad apples wrecking it for all of us. Keep the anti ATV BS off this site. We get enough of that on every hiking/biking/equestrian site out there.

All in favor for seeing more threads like this disappear???

Not saying that this is a bad thread, but like I have said. It could have come across differently.
Just remember...... it might be YOUR thread that disappear's as well !!!

I'm all in for doing this, for the better cause of this forum. But for every action there is an equal an opposite reaction.
I have been quadding across AB and BC, as well as sand duning throughout the States. Forums like this is what the SRD and the Greenies prey on!! We ALL can be our worst enemies for having our riding area's shut down.
Think before you reply..... We all like to be heard, but in what way???

I'm not in favor of censorship in a free democratic society.....so NO. Those that don't want to be reading this stuff have the ability to choose not to.

I wouldn't have posted the picture but that's just my opinion. Like QT and kootenay cat says it is ammunition against us. I am not saying its right or wrong. Everyone has done it one time or another.

You betcha!!! I have done a lot of dumbass things in my life, whether it's been quadding or sledding. I'm also for freedom of speech, I like to be heard, and hear what other's have to say!!! But none the less, there has to be a line drawn. And it's up to us to draw that line. You don't have to agree with me, but take a stance as fellow snow and mudder's.....

Educated choices .We need to work together as a group doing positive things for our motorized sports .
This will help keeping areas open for us to enjoy.

Last weekend we were riding in a remote area in BC on a FSR and came across 3 sxs in a senseative spot. We hollered at them and they said "Oh we didn't know". After they had just rode past 3or4 signs saying no atv's past this point. I went back to town and reported it. The next day they (fish cops) said they were no longer there and would not be able to do much without catching them in the act. If nothing else this thread brings up a problem we have amongst us. A small few wrecking it for the large majority. I think we have to police ourselves like you said. If we keep this up they will only allow foot traffic in all our favorite spots.

I gotta say this is amazing, on a scale of 1-100 the environmental impact of ATV's has gotta be about .001 which is barely a step above draught beer and pickled egg induced flatulence.
The greenies and huggers whine because it is they who are are the bullies here. Why do they pick on us ? simple cause they can.... They whine and cry cause the real offenders tell them where to go and how to get there. So they lash out at where and who they can even if it is unwarranted . I'll bet over the years smokers tossing butts out car windows have had a greater impact on the environment than ATV'rs. There are literally thousands of other worse enviromental offences than a few ATV's runnin through the bush. Somebodys got to enlighten the huggers/greenies they're barkin up the wrong tree......

reading this thread has been very entertaining, it never ceases to amaze me how pent up people can get without snow! dont worry brothers and sisters, it'll all be better very soon, and we can get back to arguing about more important things like how much better the XM Summit will perform than the other 3 mountain sled builders this season.
