Until the frame breaks  ;):beer:

I myself havnt seen a single frame break on a can am and you probly havnt either. We have all heard about it on forums but it must take a lot of punishment prior to breaking. I just rode the walburg rally Saturday with over 670 registerd quads and majority were can am and never seen or heard of a hesme break there. If they are junk that would be the place to break it as the trail is extremely pounded out from that many machines.

Since this thread has nothing to do with brutes I will leave out how many of them I pulled to dry ground due to blown belts.

Maxwell buy a renegade and you will not be disapointed.
And trade that XP for a cat then you will have the best of the best lol.

Something else to think about and maybe you don't care but Can Am from what I see has no EPS on their quads. I sure love when I'm in snow or go over big logs that the quad doesn't get pulled into the snow bank and the handle bars don't whack me in the ribs. I rode my quad for 11 hours a few weekends ago and the next day not a muscle in my body was sore. I think EPS is worth it IMO. Some I'm sure will say EPS is for wimps but maybe they have not had a chance to try it. :d

I'm riding the red outlander in this trailer. The said frame issue is BS. I ride this thing every day like this and yes I have a higher maintenance cost than most other can-am riders but the machines are awesome. I ride 3000 miles a year and have never been left in the bush or needed a tow. Knock on wood
Can-am now makes an XC model 800. Basically a renagade with outlander trim so you can have the racks and such for working it. That's my next purchase.

It has become an urban myth.

Since you want (or need) to write it off for work....get an Outlander. Bigger fenders, comes with a winch and has racks....oh and it's just as fast as a Renny. For all the help you've provided around here with the sleds, I'm sure there's a few tips and tricks that can be reciprocated your way on the quads.

I used to get a new quad every year or every other year max. I'm going on to season 5 with my 07 Outlander with NO MAJOR PROBLEMS YET. Don't get the 500...it's good, but you will trade it the first time you ride with someone who has an 800. You want one. Trust me.

In my opinion, you can't get more power than the 800 canned ham.(850 XP is right there) Can't get a better ride than the PoPo XP. And can't get better reliability than a Yami. One thing I like better about Yamaha is the shifter is on the left side...Makes plowing snow a lot faster as you don't have to move your hands around as much. Keep that thumb on the happy lever. They all have good points and bad. I wouldn't really be afraid to buy any of them. Just a few more things I like better about the Yamaha, sure it doesn't have the brunt of the others but is also WAY lighter, which equals more fun to throw around on the trails.

Hey that extra head light you have...is that an OEM part or something custom? How did you mount it? Any other pics of it Dave? I want one. Thanks

That is not an "extra headlight"...that is THE HEADLIGHT. LOL. After adding the Rigid 10" LED bar, I removed the factory lights. It draws 35 watts and will peal the paint off a van at 100 yards!

i have a 2008 800 outlander and i skid full sized poplars out of the bush with it. girlfriend has a renegade and her face got covered in mud the first time she took it out, it needs mud guards. racks are extra and a lot smaller

Renegades should come with a mud suit, but man are they fun.

on the frame issue....I have had 2 friends that had to replace the frames on their can am quads....one was a 650 outlander and the other was an 800 renegade. they both ran into immovable objects, with the front wheel....the box frame buckles where the suspension mounts when they take a nasty impact. there are several fixes and reinforcements one can do to prevent this from happening as I'm sure no one plans to run into chit at speed. but if there is a weak point on the can ams, that is it. with the frame reinforcements the a arms will break first and be a lot less to repair in the event of a crash.

Go for the 800 Youll Like it! :d

Yeah, I had my ass ( 700 Grizz) absolutely handed to me by a Renegade on a logging road
It wasn't bad enough that I had to choke on his dust, but the prick sprayed me with gravel after he went by! :d
