On Thursday,I had a complete tear of the distal biceps tendon. I spent the weekend in the hospital waiting for surgury, and got it repaired. They basically drilled the

forearm bone, inserted and re-attached the tendon.

am sure someone on here had this procedure done, how is the recovery?

I have plans to go sledding in just over 8 weeks, and don't want to miss it.

has anyone experienced this injury? I am sure it's quite common, since I did it to my left arm and didn't get the repair done.

Here is the procedure they did to me, It was not exactly the same but very similar.

Actually it didn't hurt too bad, I don't think there are nerve endings on tendons. It hurt right when I injured it (soft tissue damage and bruising), but after a couple of hours it wasn't too painful. No muscle damage. I had to wait a couple of days at the hospital for the surgury, THAT SUCKED!! and didn't need any pain killers. I am on T3's for post-op pain, but it's pretty minor actually.

Yeah, that looks painful.

I tore my achilles in spring 2011. I got right off the booze, ate really healthy, and got cold-laser therapy on top of physio. Recovery was fast and the laser has worked wonders on my achilles injury and a bum knee.

I've had twelve tendons stitched back together and it wasn't overly painful, but recovery took months. In your case, it looks like you don't have to wait for anythng to heal??? ...or is the tendon supposed to somehow graft to the bone over time? If no healing is required, you probably just need a little physio to regain flexibility. I'd be curios to find out.

The bone is supposed to form a callous around the tendon, thus fusing it together. 2 weeks in a half cast, then physio with 2 to 4 more in a removable cast. doc had to disrupt a nerve, and my forearm top is numb. Good chance if it regaining feeling though.
What I am curious is, will it be like tendonitis, and have months of that kind of pain? You know, like the inflammation of the tendon tube...
