Heard good things from a buddy.

I believe in the coming months I'm getting a Torch to replace my Storm through work.

Guess I could let you know more by then, but I imagine you want a little sooner? lol

I have had one for about a month now and I really like the phone. Pretty good camera too which helps me with my business emailing trailer pictures in larger formats. Zero complaints so far!

I got one Sept . 30. Love Blackberrys, and especially loved it off the bat, then it began to freeze, and when I took it in to talk to them about it, alot more went wacko and even more I guess, after I left with my new one.

They said there is usually 1 in every batch. Lucky me.

Had the second one Oct 16 until November 2, as I could no longer charge it. Tried 3 different chargers too, as soon as something would plug into it, the screen would flash and flash and flash. Tried to back it up to my computer, but it wouldn't acknowledge it was connected. I tried to do this on both home computers as well as the one in my office at work.
Can't charge it = cant use it. Frustration city.

I should also mention I haven't beat the phones up at all. I take overly good, careful care of them. My own Curve, which I am using again, until this is all done, was from Dec. 2008 and it still looks brand new, not a scratch on it.

When it is working, The Torch is the most fantastic phone ever made (in my opinion). Camera is awesome, clarity on the screen kicks butt, and the option to have a keypad is also nice. Not to mention it looks pretty sleek. All the extras and apps for it are awesome too.

Magnet liked the game "Word Mole" that comes with it ALOT. No, I'd say it was more than he liked it, it was almost time for an intervention for him.

Now that I have went through two bad ones, I am thinking of doing the iPhone now. They said there has been zero problems since they re-launched them.
As it was 2 days past my 30 days when the Torch started going weird, I have to wait, as they sent it in to RIM so that they would issue Telus a credit, who in turn will issue it to me. Grrrrr just a waiting game now.

So that is my two cents. I still highly recommend the Torch, even though I had this stuff happen. It is great for business and loads amazingly fast.
If you have a Blackberry now, wait until you try this new one, the speed is astonishing compared to what you get with the Torch. I am guessing because of the different type of communication.

The only bad thing I have heard is a few people have had the original battery that comes with it, go dead really really really fast, so they have taken it in under the first 30 day warranty and then they were given a second one, and they have all been fine with the new battery.

Sorry for the book (as usual).

Good luck !!!

I have rolled out 3 at work so far. Seems like a pretty solid phone like most BBs. I currently have a Bold but wish I had a torch.

I have the Torch and love it!
I still have a few days to buy the extended warranty. Sounds like I'll be making a stop by Rogers on the way home.
Thanks for the heads-up.

Love the torch. At first the battery was going dead really, really fast. I had to turn the backlight down to 10 and the screen light to go off after 10 seconds of non use and it lasts pretty much all day now.

It is really easy to use and has the options of both full keyboard and touch pad. Showtime tried it out and since the keys are kind of indented he found he couldnt really type on the keyboard with his man hands.

I am self admittedly hard on my cell phones and use them alot (an understatement) so im kind of scared to see how long this phone will last......

Just traded a new Bold in for a Torch. Really like the bigger screen for videos, camera is awesome, and key board is gonna need some getting use to. The one on the screen I mean. Sound is way better than I would have thought...great phone.

This is what blackberry should have been all along. I just bought a new curve this spring and when the torch came out I paid the full $600 cash to get it. I need this type of phone for business use. I can pretty much do everything I do in the office while on the road when I have to.

I have been a palm user for 15 some years, and a treo user for about 4 years. The palm OS while dated and not pretty looking at all, was very seamless and nice to work with, after many years of polishing out little things that nag at you. Palm stopped making their business phones (treo) and a social phone like the Pre is no good for business use plus I could see palm was about to roll over and die, so I needed to switch to BB. While very functional, my last two blackberry's nagged me with little irritating things palm solved years ago. (If you were not a long time Palm user you wouldn't know what I am talking about)

However, this blackberry torch with both a touch screen and physical keyboard is what all smart phones should have, at least all working/business phones, and OS 6 is getting back the point where my last Treo was for easy to use. I wouldn't have any other blackberry but this one. It really is a very good phone, and although I haven't spent significant time with an Iphone, I expect it's in the same territory now. Web browsing works great, it has the pinch to zoom, the screen res is adaquate, multitasking is perfect, its fast and snappy, hardware is great quality. Battery life is nothing short of amazing, I use some OTA apps, and with all the web browsing and email I do, I can't believe how well the battery holds up. At least 3 times longer than my curve, plus you can leave WiFi on and bluetooth on all the time, it doesn't seem to do anything stupid like looking for wifi or the headset when it isn't there and draining the battery. They really got this one right. I get 3 days and I wasn't getting one with the curve due to my heavy use.

Speaking of the IPhone, as a blue color worker, working with dirty hands and a phone out side in -20C I can't see the Iphone working too well with no hard buttons, maybe others care to reflect, but I think a phone should have hard buttons like this BB does.

Also, BB email is the best. If you get an email with a crazy big PDF attachment for example, the BB email server works with you while you read it. It only sends you the pages you are reading, as you read them, at the resolution you read them at - so low data use, saves battery and saves a lot of time. No stupid downloading the whole big thing when you just want to view the first few pages to get an idea what you got. The email is very smart that way, same goes for email with pics and anything else the email client can preview. It just includes what you are seeing, if you zoom in it seamlessly sends you more detail, you don't even know it's happening. Works so perfectly I don't even think people are aware of it. No other smartphone has this.

Get the torch, you will love it.
And if you are a crazy social networking person as well, it has some great new features in OS6 that bring it right up to speed.

PS: The only thing I will caution, and this might be true of many/all phones, my phone picked up metal filings (from being around grinding with my work coat on, and putting my phone in my outer pocket) and they got through the tiny screen for the ear piece, due to the strong magnet in the speaker, and then my speaker sound like it had a bunch of metal filings stuck to it and sound like crap. I solved it by keeping a small magnet in my pocket, since I can't seem to stop putting my phone in that pocket. (of course I had to get a new phone) The magnet keeps the stray filings stuck to it and out of the phone. No it hasn't erased my credit cards yet. It also does double duty by keeping most of your loose change in one place. Will work better when they get rid of the penny.

No longer in Alberta... Moved to Toronto!
I have had it now for a few weeks and love it! Internet is WAY faster on the new OS 6 and the camera and video are sweet! I recorded my son playing hockey, uploaded it to youtube and posted it on facebook all while sitting on the couch with a cold beer! Still figuring what method of typing I like best... tough to beat a full qwerty keyboard... although I may get used to typing on the screen
