Anybody trap a beaver?

Anybody out there have any experience trapping beavers? Got a problem with the bastages eating my trees. Have lost 11 towering poplars in the last 2 weeks as we live next to a irrigation drainage canal that feeds Lake McGregor. Any help appreciated!

12 gauge then. LOL. You can get traps and set them in the water in front of their den.

Wrap a little chicken wire around the bottom of the trees. This will help save the trees until you get them all DEAD. and ya...a box of beer, lawn chair and a 12 gauge.

If you use a 10-22 you can get 25 round mags. Get a few of those and you have more chances of a hit lol.

I think you can bait them with stuff like cash and shiny trinkets, but trapping may not be legal........
Buddy used to go pull a couple of sticks out of their dam to make the water run, when the repair crew shows up (and they always do) shoot the little buggers.

Up here I know the county or MD will trap them if they are causing problems for you. And if the dams get too big they use explosives to get rid of everything!

Its been awhile since I trapped beaver but I used to do pretty good when I baited them with Vodka...Just sayin.

You can't legally trap in Alberta without a license. Use a .22 or a 12 gauge and you will clear them out.

shoot 'em. I just use a .22 with hollow point stingers or yellowjackets. Fought with them things for over 10 years, they kept flooding my fields. Blow up a dam and they would just move further into the bush, then they changed the rules and a guy couldn't get dynamite anymore. Too bad....blowing chit up was fun.

Shoot them is the best. Beer,guns and lawn chair. Like others have said break the dam a little and sit quiet they will come repair it.

This seems to be the consensus! Are there some PFRA boys around anymore? They wouldn't want them beaver messin' with their irrigation ditches......
