Currently riding a 2018 skidoo 165 and considering trading on a 2018 Polaris 800- 163 with Boondocker sidekick.
This is my mountain machine, been riding for 12+ years, and always on a turbo’d sleds, exception being never on a Polaris.
Last year i rode stock due to an injury, but wasn’t overly impressed with the G4’s performance in the snow.
Has anyone made the switch and regretted?

I went from a 2016 Axys 155 with sidekick to a 2019 stocker 850 163 and didnt regret a thing.
Also had a 2018 skidoo 850 165 and still preferred the Polaris over all.

so what made you prefer the axys over the skidoo? Just wondering as I have a new 850 axys snow checked and deciding whether to take it or buy a 850 doo,!!

I had a 2016 axys and put on a 36" Zbros front end and loved it, went to a 2018 g4 175 last yr just to try something different, its currently up for sale as I went with a 2019 163 axys 850. the reason is I prefer the way the axys handles. there are things i liked about the g4 but over all I was much happier with the axys... that being said I had considered trying an alpha but went with the axys.

I think it depends alot on the rider. Nobody’s opinion will be the correct one for you. I found I was more confident on my ‘14 ProClimb 162 than on my ‘17 Axys 163 with full Mountain Magic kit and 36” front end. So this year I went to a holdover ‘19 Doo 175 due to guys I ride with that own both saying; in most conditions, normal (not extreme) terrain, and average rider skill the Doo is an easier more comfortable sled to ride. On the other hand I know that many people say that the Axys is the best chassis for the highly skilled riders that ride extreme terrain and need to be on edge all day long. Which I believe is most likely true as well.

Power wise you'll end up near the same place, or that's kind of how it'll feel anyway..

Axys is a much more stable platform, you can sidehill an Axys for hours with little to no effort.. Doo wants to turn up, i like that and have setup suspension to work with it and keep the front end light..
All depends on how your riding style and if you like to take a plastic nubbon bar end to the belly button couple times a day...

Both are great sleds currently have a 19 850 Polaris and waiting for my 20 850 Khaos, Skidoo in the end of the day just didnt get up and float for me, as quick they always seem to be a trencher. Polaris seems to pop out of the snow and not initially dig when giving some gas it allows you to hesitate a bit more when in tight trees. I put on 1600km on my 850 Skidoo and 1800 miles on my Polaris last season, over all Polaris takes it for the riding I do. If I was a trail rider the skidoo is nicer on the trail minus the dartyness.

I was on Doo for 17 years and switched to a 850 axys last season. I can't say that I regretted the switch. The axysworks awesome in the snow. You think you are stuck and you can just give it a shake and it pops right out. The axys sidehills very well and is very predictable. I do miss the playfulness of the doo but I will probably opt for the Khaos next time around. The ergos on the axys are near perfect. The boards, seat and tunnel feel much narrower than the doo. My 16 XM was a great sled but I don't think I could go back

After riding Doo for Approx 38 years I will be riding my Axys for the first time today! We shall see how I like it. Switched because I wana try it and they seem to work great in tight trees. That's what I ride is trees.

I sold my Doo, and picked up a ‘19 Axys.
Now, time to wait for some snow

I switched from an XP to a 13 Pro. Not the same as switching from a G4 to an Axys as the XP was arguably the worst mountain sled Doo ever made. I then went from Pro to Axys and this year will be on an 850 Khaos. I rode a G4 last year and didn't like it one bit. I like the balance, rear skid and steering of the Polaris sleds and can't go back to Doo the way they are right now. I have ridden a couple cats and could go that way no problem.

Yup. Rode again today. And omg!!! Yup. Me likes it!! Much more stable when crossing a previous track. Carves so much easier. About the same to get into a carve as the Xp/Xm but much less effort in holding the carve. The ass end doesn't sink near as much or wash out on side hills. All day I'm prepping for the trench and washout but never happens. Rode a lot more aggressive than I normally doo. With less effort too

Just wait until Maxwell hears about this. You will find out how full of $hit you really are lol. I found the same thing when I went from xp to pro.
