We have deer but if we fence it its gonna have to be tall enough they can't jump it

cats keep using the garden as their litter box
The lady 2 house up has between 50 to 100 cats they run wild all over the place. They sure do a number all all the old fancy cars, scratches every where on their 10000 dollar paint jobs. Flower beds all smell like cat ****.

It is way more entertaining watching all the action the cats create, the women had it in her head that the neighbors dog was killing her cats. She drove right through his fence.

I went from electric fencing to "montana elk fencing". Kept the deer and a lot of other critters at bay and if I would have had cat problems I would have lowered or added a lower stand of electric wire. I couldn't find a Canadian supplier for the plastic fencing and living close to the border it was no problem. Funny thing about the material was that it was made in Italy.......go figure.

No, but funny you say that. We do live in a Hamlet that is a former Colony!
I Have a big potato spade for the tractor that rolls them out pretty nice. We don't keep all of them. I think we keep a little less than half. Between us and our neighbour behind us, we have a combined total of about 3/4-1 acre of garden. We keep a little and the rest we donate to the food bank at the end of the year. We have water that's pretty shallow, so I was able to get a buddy with a skid steer and a few pieces of extension steel to put a large diameter shallow well out there a few years ago with a couple of well pumps.

Has an interesting history here. Our hamlet was actually a German Mennonite Colony. Original church from early 1900's is still here, as is the rectory, nuns villa, amd the original school house. I believe shortly after WW2 the hamlet opened up. Few houses were built in the 60's and really nothing until land became valuable in the early 2000's. When the former owner bought the lot here in 2007, it was serviced with a well drill and gas to the property for $17k.

I will not shoot cats but crows are on the menu, one shot from a rws 460 magnum and they are done. If i do not keep on the crows the neighbors coming over and give me sh!t because the crows start squawking at 5am. Great bunch of neighbors though... we are so lucky.

People say I’m crazy for wanting to plant a lot in a small city lot but I like to eat! Lol
Before all this covid events I was already planning to expand from before.
Before I had 1 bed 4’x16. But could only really access from one side. So lots of soil compaction. And a partial bed that connected and was 3x8.
This year I’ve built 4 beds 8’x4’x27” high. 1 bed 3x12 beside the house.
And plan to make some in the front yard too.
The height is to help the back. And next year I’ll add another board height.
There is a arch trellis from Centers of a pair of beds.
New water collection.
3x12 alongside the house.
4x4 onion and garlic bed.
Needs more dirt next year.
