Actually it's not illegal to drive in the shoulder, and turning into a drive through technically isn't it ticket either because your on private property just like if you get in a accident in a parking lot nobody gets a ticket, and there is no law for driving over the imaginary centre line on a residential road, but ya the cops Allways right ehh and of course the young kid is the one being disrespectful right, heres another story I have two seadoos brand name bombardier, I guy on a purple Polaris watercraft was cuasing a problem at the lake making waves next to the boat launch and the public beach I come back from the other side of the lake dock my seadoo my girfriend was on the other one I walk to my truck to load them a RCMP officers comes out starts telling me how I'm getting a ticket for reckless driving on water, and how I'm ruining people time at the lake also telling me that I damaged other people boats sitting at the docks, he said that's your purple watercraft that people where complaining about but I have a green seadoo custom wrap on it and a bright red seadoo, he then told me to start loading my seadoos he's gunna talk to the people that reported me, so i start loading my seadoos after I took a good verbal attack from this officer so I get them loaded up the officer comes back looks at me gets in his car and leaves so I went and had a word with the people that reported the watercraft they told te officer it wasn't me that it was a older guy, so that rc didn't have any respect and come apologize to me for yelling at me in a public place because i was the first youn kid with seadoos there, that is why some cops are ignorant and classless, and I have no time for idiots like that. But hey keep defending the cops because the young kids are never right !!!!!!

Im sorry but your posts in this thread reek of attitude and I cant help but feel you act the same way around cops. If your constantly getting pulled over you probably arnt the best of drivers and deserve the extra attention your getting.

Im not sure about Alberta, but in BC it is illegal to drive on the sholder of a road, it is illegal to cross the center line and its illegal to turn off a roadway without signaling. But on top of that, those are things that are dead giveaways for impaired driving. If a cop sees somebody doing the things you describe it sets of the warning alarms in him and he is going to check you out. Frankly if thats the way you drive I prefer you walk.

Ok so my son got clipped in a complete speed trap on the Icefields parkway. The dick of a cop said you have to appear in canmore on a summons .i say BS for a speeding ticket the courts have better things to do than waste time on that. There is no way in hell we are going to drive all the way there for that .Have any other BC drivers had a similar situation. What could they possably do anyway if you do not pay as our 2 systems are totally seperate.IE ICBC in BC can force you to pay by denying your insurance.I would think ALta is SOL trying to enforce it on a BC license other than if they catch you again in Alta.Any ifo would be appr.

Did you take two seconds and read the back of the ticket? How young is your son? How much over the limit was he?

Its funny how they are only speed traps when you are, ummmm, SPEEDING! Break the law, pay the price.

Teach your son the way of the world, if a cop is sitting behind you with his lights flashing, its time to learn the "Good Morning officer, yes sir, no sir, thank you sir."

Your kid was probably driving like a complete asshat and the "dick cop" probably could have impounded the vehicle. The "dick cop" likely cut your kid some slack like they usually do.

Yeah, when I was young I used to get pulled over quite often, had words with the police on occasion and figured the world was out to get me. Funny thing is I got older, calmed down a bit, quit pushing the envelope and now I haven't been pulled over in years.

Is it that they discriminate against youth, or simply that in our youth we do allot of stupid things.

Hmmmmmmm.

An older guy in a sports car wouldnt broadcast that he was dump enough to drive to fast on the Icefeilds Parkway and would quietly pay his ticket and carry on with life.

I guess I would class as an older guy with what would some would class as a sports car. I got clipped in a "speed trap" Friday night on the way home from work. Pulled over took my speeding ticket, was respectful towards the cop and he was nice enough not to give me another ticket for not having my current reg. papers in the car(oops!). When I was younger I got pulled over alot for the same reasons as you guys, driving parents newer fancier vehicles, I was respectful and polite to the cops and rarely ever got any tickets for what was my own stupidity. I have also not seen any given a summons for anything but some very high speeds, usually 50+ and over. Although with the laws constantly changing the speeds at which they are given might have been lowered.

I agree with you there he deserved a ticket, and yes but my point is if it was your son or a younger guy in your sports car do you think that same cop is gunna treat a young kid the same way as they treated you, there are great cops out there and I have no issues with them pulling me over when I deserve it it's the ones that take advantage of there authority just because they can, where I live if your between 16-22 the cops respect for you is out the window. In smaller towns I have been pulled over a couple times for not coming to a complete stop, and they where great cops they simply told me what I did wrong I agreed and one cop let me off the other one didn't but I deserved it so I payed the ticket, but they didnt once belittle or disrespect me that is the difference between a good cop and a guy that takes advantage of his position.

So your getting stopped twice for failing to come to a stop, for driving on the shoulder of the road, for crossing the center line and for not signaling before you turn. Simply sounds like your a careless driver to me. Maybe the cops in your area are doing a good job.

Icefeilds Parkway is the dumbest place in Alberta to be speeding...tourists viewing the wildlife, wildlife on the road, beautiful scenery, foreigners & older people driving rental RVs, a heavy RCMP presence... frick the list of reasons not to speed on that particular hwy is long. You should've taught your kid that, instead of teaching your kid the cop is just being a dick.

OK this post went for a crapper.Lets try and stay on topic
Ticket is a pink one.Kid is 22 and was driving my truck down a fairly steep decent with the TT on and riding the exhaust break doing approx 80kmh. I know because i looked at the speedometer. There were 4 cop cars and once they pulled us over they quickly nabbed 4 others.Yes a speed trap as the speed changes there on a steep down hill grade. We don't have an issue paying but do have an issue wasting time to appear. My wife works an a very large lawyers office i'll let her deal with it.I thought I might get some advice on here about voluntary payment asw opossed to apperance as from my understanding if you appera the cop also has to show up in a dispute otherwise its thrown out.

you still have to appear at the location designated on the ticket, or have an officer of the court or lawyer appear on your behalf if you choose to fight it. if you choose to plead guilty, you can have an officer of the court or lawyer appear for you and plead guilty, and have the court date and location transferred to your area.
