you can register at any alberta insurance outlet, depending on what your registering my 03 800 runs about 80 bucks a year, insurance is a different story but not that bad.

Registration is 45.00 $ insurance is anywhere from 20 to 1000$$ depends on your history. Your girlfriend here will have to get all the paperwork because you live in BC. Sign sleds over in her name and she can get it done for you cheaper here in AB.

you need proof of liability insurance in order to register any vehicle in Alberta

I wasnt asked to provide insurance when I registered mine. For cars, trucks, yes, but I am quite sure you can register a sled without insurance.

I 'might' be wrong, but I registered 3 this winter and did not provide insurance for any of them. In fact one of mine I didnt insure for almost a month after I got it (US sled, and paperwork delays)

Overkill...no you do not pay tax on the machine when you register in AB.

Sounds about right...goes by the month depending on your last name here...for me my last name begins with 'M' so Feb is my month to renew, Oct to Feb was about $27/sled for me so $45 yr sounds about right!

so you have to pay for regy every year in alberta??? I think it cost 10 buck to regy a sled here and only a one time fee but they nail you tax on it. if I get the sled into my girfriends name then she just gives it to me as a gift and i register it here and pay no tax!

it is impossible to get reg. in alberta before you have insurance. and if the insurance is put on to reg then cancelled that also makes the reg. invalid. no way around it. sorry.

Why do you want to regi it and park it???,, dont regi if not riding in AB,, I live in AB but sled 95% BC,,, I have Liability/theft/fire/ insurance but I dont bother paying the $60 per year to regi.

but you must have insurance and AB driver license to Regi any vehicle in AB....

overkill 131313, you can receive it as a gift and get around the PST at time of BC registration.

Don't know about the name change on the warranty; better check that out before you dot the "i's" and cross the "t's"!!

Yep, I was (sort of...)

I did register mine WITHOUT 'snowmobile' insurance, but since I registered them in the company name, and I have a huge blanket policy, they just stuck them on that policy, so while I didnt provide insurance, they used insurance I already had in place. Then when I insured them, that policy took over...

Sorry for the misunderstanding...

Magnet is right. Insurance 1st, then registration.
With all our seasonal toys, they are insured year round, but I don't renew the regitration till the start of that toys season. Quads in April - Sleds in October - saves me aq few bucks.

same for me my reg expires at end of april. works perfect for the sled. only pay from when the snow is on the ground till end of april. works out to about 25 bucks per year.

Did it show the amount on your blanket for the sleds? Or what it would have cost if you left them on?

Very curious, boses were gonna go that way till they saw the #'s.

$320 / yr covers me for everything and anything that can happen to my sled.
$34 /yr to renew the plate/registration.
Sometimes they pro-rate the cost if you can wait (depending on which month your name falls on).
My registration is due in February for my bike but I wait until May to renew since I won't ride before then. Registration becomes a big hit in February with the number of vehicles and anything I can do to offset it, the better. This year was more expensive since I moved and had to pay to change the address on a couple of permanent trailer plates.
I try not to think about how many years I've paid for insurance and never made a claim. Always call around for insurance quotes. My bike insurance would be double if I went with TD Insurance instead of the sister company, TD Meloche Monnex.

No, I didnt show, and it didnt stay on for the whole month...Since I work in the oilfield I have to carry HUGE liability for both owned and non-owned vehicles and now with all the stupid safety registries, Complyworks, and ISN, I have to meet their requirements as well as the clients. I have to carry $5 mil for CNRL for oil and gas work, as we work on live wells and pipelines.

Honestly dont think it was any more expensive than normal, but sure wasnt any cheaper. I still have them insured to the company both because I use them for work and for the writeoff, and the 2010 is around $300/yr full coverage. The other 2 I dont carry collision on and they are about $60/yr under the company...

I have units coming on and off the policy quite often as we aquire/rent/sell equipment and my policy for the vehicles and equipment runs about $2100/yr
