I didn't realize that Terra Alps wouldn't sell you a tunnel unless they mounted it before. I always thought there tunnels were sick:cool: That would be pretty expensive you would think by the time you have to drive back end forth for your sled ?????? hours, pay him for labour and buy tunnel. Makes me think that doing a carbon tunnel and bulk head is not that ridiculous. Ted you mine giving us a rough idea what a tunnel would cost done out of the shop. I was thinking about doing one on my RT over the summer.
thx

We don't build just a replacement tunnel for the bling factor. We want it better then stock make it worth while of installing a tunnel kit.
Better foot traction with no sad looking bolt on traction. We started the open slots on foot traction with the 04 rev tunnel tested what worked and what size of opening is best. Body and foot positioning is key when attacking an aggresive hill or boondocking, a tunnel design that is appealing to the eye and works in the snow, not dragging when you carve.
The rev tunnels are $3000 plus gst. installed running out the door.
Color is extra usually $150. black, white, silver...
Reason we only install ourselves is on the rev tunnel and most of our tunnels we do some welding on them, with a small drop and roll so we keep the geometry similiar to stock. If you don't weld it properly it will warp real bad. Then bulkhead is toast. Do it once, do it right.
The rev tunnel is a bit taller then stock for more track clearance for more air movement = more track speed and larger tracks. this is a wicked tunnel kit but requires alot of work, on the XP we modify the front cooler, and have coolant running on the running boards to keep them clean, also its a lighter cooling package with a small u cooler on the rear. The tunnel we build is stronger then stock and won't bend on the foot section like stock. Also has a stronger rear bumper that can tow out your buddy. Stock is weak. The motor has to come out, so its a ton of work, the xp tunnel kit is $3500 plus gst. installed running out the door. color is extra.
hope this helps if you have more questions just email us thru our website or call.

can anyone verify if CR racing makes a tunnel? or ANYONE else??

I too want a tunnel now, but can't drive to Kelowna and back, twice ($1000 gas, plus $3500 for the install).

Chad at CR makes a fantastic tunnel. had one on my 03 900 cat and it looked great and was next to bomb proof!! the boy does nice work!! I installed it myself and Chad makes it extremely easy to do. he is also a pleasure to deal with and stands behind his product with a smile. I know it isn't a fashion show but his stuff is sweet looking as far as fit and finnish. take the powdercoating as the snow won't stick to it.

you driving a hummer? i make it to kelowna in 2tanks of fuel and im further away

I would have to drive there and back once to drop the sled off, and there and back again to pick it up.

That's 8 tanks for fuel for you. Plus a hotel room each way, eating for 4 days... etc etc. Actually I couldn't do it for only $1000

I checked their site and didn't see any tunnels on XP's, Can anyone confirm an XP tunnel?

i'll check again and call them Monday.

thanks.

Hummer pulling a 35' boat maybe ? LOL you must be in ontario?

we always have people driving back and forth from bc to alberta as we get sleds delivered all the time, and a little tip of generrosity goes a long way.
Quality is key thats why we install. I think I mentioned that to you on the phone. thats why we have no issues with our products.

Talked to Chad. Nice tunnels and you can just buy the tunnel if you wish.

Here is a tunnel from Terra Alps. I have been running this sled for about 12 + rides, with absolutly no issues with the BB, pipes, or tunnel. The sled just rips, check it out. A big thanks to Ted for building me a solid mountain performer.

The tunnels look nothing alike. The rear foot rest is completly different, the rear bumpers are nothing alike, the cooling system, Terra Alps has more angle of the rear of the 2 piece tunnel, ect. Even notice the edge of the tunnel just below the CR 163, the tunnel has been curled, Ted's are a L design. Ted's tunnels have more than enough support at all high stress area's, you can't see them cause of the black on black. I have beat this tunnel up some of the worst ungroomed trails with no damage.

I,ve done carbon fiber chassis,if you get the right builder and he knows how to work with carbon and takes the time needed there great.floats and flys great:d

The seam on the first pic going up the center of the tunnel does not look good. Just my 2 cents.

Look where it say's Terra Alps, the 2 piece tunnel overlaps quite a bit to increase the strength in this weak area. The running board also provides additional strength in this area. I don't see this on the CR but the pic might not tell everything.
