How many have viewed riding areas from the air,I’ve seen mostly Valemount area in a helicopter and once in a plane in the summer time. Was really amazed at some of the Glaciers in the summer Hallam&Foster we’re very knarly looking.I think these would be small in comparison to some further south.

I over estimated how many private flyers on this site, with so many with private flying licenses I thought there would have been some sightseeing over there favourite riding areas.

I flew over Boulder years ago as well in a helicopter that was coming to lift me and buddies sleds out of bad spot. Enjoyed it more than the walk out the previous night.

My riding partner is just finishing up his licence, final written test in 2 weeks. From there we will be out in his plan quite a bit this year scouting new riding areas around golden, piece some ‘passes’ together, and looking for fresh snow that hasn’t been hit.

Basically fly into golden, do a circle route of our areas and go for a rip next day.

As I tell everyone, be sure to follow to beater bomb truck for good rides…. If you can keep up!

That’s a cool story,a friend I’ve rode with since 1987 had similar adventure.Him and his partner got buggered up back in Boulder and he took a unchartered route on foot down to highway( he said he should have had mountain climbing gear lol!)hitch hiked a ride from a gal that her brother was a local helicopter pilot and she delivered him to heliport. They went up and lifted sleds back up on top and got a couple hours more riding all in one day.

About 25 years ago 5 of us toured some areas in Valemount in July,I was surprised to see a lone track from the previous March I’d made in between two no traffic areas at around 6500 ft.

Been around Valemount a couple times and turtle, eagles and keystone at Revy, it really helps with getting yourself orientated , I always had my directions a bit turned around in revy untill we flew it!

Topo’s on paper maps or google can be deceiving sometimes once your on the ground, our group was schooled more than once.Had a couple aerial views with sponsored heli rides, they were cheap also🙂

Tell me about it

You show up and cliffs out, or you just 1 hill away from being wheee you wanted.

Piecing it together in the air would be like cheating in the end.

Unfortunately sometimes the snows fills in a lot but summer fly may look ugly
