Is there anyone representing the club as a member on here?

I live kinda in the middle of 3 different clubs, AB Beach is closest, then trailseekers then Whitecourt...

Figured I'd sign up to the closest being AB Beach, I found thier website but noticed they do not have an area on S&M...

Good going Ian. Glad to see your going to join a club. Lots of fun. Echo Marine has plenty of info at their shop.
They as well as any club need helpers for trail maintaince also.

Can you provide me with a little info on the club?

How often and when do they meet? Are you the only S&M member from the club? How many members? What is the general atmosphere?

I'm sure you've read some of my posts and have a pretty good idea of my personality, I like to have fun, joke around, am willing to help out however I can but it has to be enjoyable otherwise I'll lose interest.

There are a LOT of riders from right around my area whom as far as I know don't belong to the club. So I figure if all of us join up then it will mean a significant increase in membership for the club, if they can put up with us...

On your club trail map I don't see any of the RR31 or RR25 road allowance trails, I know they are used for the Snowmodays rally and so I'm guessing are part of the Outlaws trail system.

Myself, Plio7, Mike#'s, Dale, Retodd, Doc, the brother inlaw, etc etc etc... all spend a ton of time riding the ditches of Hwy 43, 633, 33, 16, 16a etc...
I'm sure if we were to group up with the Wed. night ride crew we'd have enough people to form a whole new club.... so I'm sure we could be of benifit to the existing AB Beach club....

I'm not speaking on behalf of ANYONE but myself here.... just looking for some info.

and thats the position I don't want to be in... If I'm paying a membership fee I'd better be getting something out of it and feel as if I'm an actual member, not just on paper....
I remember my Dad's boatclub back home.... Idealy THAT is what I'd like to find. The boating was just an excuse for membership. Guys would swing by the clubhouse on thier way home from work for a beer (they had an honor bar) they'd have social nights where they would just get together and play cards/darts ect...

Thats why I almost figure that somewhere needs a club that is not just sleds, not just quads, not just boats... kinda like this website. I don't quad much anymore but hell if I could find a sled/boat club that would be IDEAL... A place for boaters to get together and cruise ect in the summer and then after the pier is out and the boats are put away then prep for sled season starts.....

Just my idea of "in a perfect world"

Clubs are good if they are fun. My experience has been the opposite so far. Went to a trailseekers christmas party a few years back, no alcohol, more white hairs than not ............. wow what a snoozer group. No offence Tyler G I know you help them out. I hope the AB crowd is not the same. I thought a I heard that they had 180 members at one point so should be a few good eggs in there somewhere I would think.

I HEAR ya..... as it is right now we don't have a "club" but we got a hell of a group of good guys who enjoy the outdoors, a couple drinks and lots of laughs. If I can find a club that fits then great.... if not it's not worth it...
I understand managing a club is serious business and at times thankless effort, maybe thats why guys get jaded.... I'm willing to do my share of the work, but it's gotta be worth it...

Hmmmm..... Mikes Garage is heated, has a fridge & a bathroom.... sounds like the makins of a clubhouse..... and I can get there by sled in 15 mins....

LeAnn has developed a proper newsletter this year, I have it if you want I can forward it to you so you can have a look, and there is more trail building going on at the trail seekers trails as we speak (7km additional). I've also received word that their poker rally this year is going to be around 120km round trip, leaving from the Wabamun townsite, travelling out to the trails, around the trails, and back to Wabamun, where there will be a dinner & silent auction afterwards.

Don't get me wrong any club you wish to join is a good one as it helps us to present actual realistic numbers to the Government, but go for one where they are moving forward. If you join, help out, don't just join then go ride, lots of work goes into the trails, lots of blisters, blood, sweat, stuck quads etc.

Agreed TG, but on the other side of things there has to be something in it for the members other than just trails far as I'm concerned. I don't even freaking need trails, ditches and cut lines work fine for me. I agree with what Rick said, I don't want to belong to a club that is strictly and brashly run by the elders who refuse to allow change within the club and feel as if the younger members are a threat..... I've not seen it in sled clubs and am not accusing anyone of anything because I've never been involved, but I have seen it in other organizations and clubs.. Clubs are great if the original mandate is kept as priority....enjoying time with friends, otherwise it becomes too much like a job and I already have a few of them...

hey bogger I joined alberta beach, all we need to do is have a party, we go quite often and stage at lake isle and ride to darwell bar on the trails and then over to gainford and up into the jackpine.

that would be an awesome ride if seba town council will let ya ride onto the lake there with that many units. ther kinda a holes i find with anything to do with recreation. 2yrs we have been waiting for a dock at this end of the lake. its fenced off now and stay away signs posted.

Should be able to sled from Wabamun to Seba on the lake this year with the Whitewood power plant shut down.Gainford and Darwell are sled friendly.It's a short season locally though.
