Haven't ridden a 174 yet, but can imagine the smell of melted plastic riding up the trail heads. I've seen quite a few for sale in recent weeks and bet they heat up on the spring time ride up the trails. Enough length that you maybe need two sets of scratchers. :)

And yes... The 174 is way to big!!! Just like the 163 that was too big to get around In the trees... And just like the 159 that "would never stick around" because it was too big.. And the 151 that was too long to be "strong enough". And yes.. They will NEVER go bigger... Just like they didn't the last 5 times they made a longer track. "There is nothing left for them to do!!!" .... Tsk tsk... Every year! Lol

I remember in 1998 Just BAD ASS & myself along ways back in Allan Creek, Him with his 144 & me 136. Stopped for a break & He says "Mike, Today we need a 200 inch track". I got those words on video. Well today we are not that far off.

So right now on Kijiji in Alberta there are 6 T3 174's by my count and 5 2015 polaris sleds seems like there's a very equal amount of buyers remorse to me.

I see a ton of summits on trails, no reason these won't be there too, lol
Stupid is as stupid does

True enough. Poker rally organizers can likely make a mint selling T3 sliders at the halfway checkpoint!

Put about 200 km's on my T3 174 in Mcbride and no heat issues. Rode the Renshaw trail for 2 days in low hard packed snow and never saw a heat light or smelt a slider.
Sled is ridiculous, i'm coming off a very light, great running 09' 860 163'' powertek that would beat any stock 14 sled climbing or boon docking, and my new T3 is night and day better. Just works, the length is a non issue in the trees and I think you're crazy not going with the 174 as an option. IMO.
Buddy of mine did chuck a lug on his Boost it- Viper which has the 163'' 3'' T3 track, may have been rock related…..

Those stock scratchers aren't going to to the trick for pure trail riding. The one thing people aren't realizing about these 3" tracks is that maybe your not overheating but your track clips could be getting very very hot which causes track delamination. Unless skidoo came up with some magical rubber formula there is gona be a lot of missing 3" lugs from trail riders. This is my experience from installing tons of 3" tracks. Good snow, good scratchers no problem.
