And he's probably hungry.

You bet the Grizz just got outta bed and is hungry and grumpy. There is only the one way down from there, same way as he climbed and nowhere else to go on the sled but back :p

Great another area that will be shut down!!That sledder deliberately scared the ch!t out of that bear and was harassing it!!JUST GREAT!!!!
Im guessing this is a joke Barley, Most of the BC Kootenay interior is grizzly country in the alpine. I can assure you it was a fluke encounter as nobody I ride with or know for that matter would dick around with any wildlife especially a hungry Grizz.

Thats crazy! I've heard of people running into moose or deer on their sleds but never heard of a bear!

Nice video. Thanks for sharing. What did he doo with the brown shorts?

The bears were out a month early this year in the upper Elk Valley. Normally, it is the first week in May. We followed one 3 years ago from below the entrance to Smith Basin and over into the Bull River valley. He was grumpy and marking territory all the way. The first picture is the top of a tree along the trail that he tore into 3 pieces (3-4" in diameter) and then in the Bull he took a dislike to the sign. In previous years,I always thought that the sign had suffered vandalism from people but after seeing this, I'm thinking this is an annual "Rite of Spring" for Mr. Griz!

I read it as a joke. Guessing that's what he meant.

You can find Bears out in the Koots any time after the beginning of April. We came across a black bear cub couple years ago wasn't any bigger than my daughter's pomeranian. Only thing going through our minds as we got the heck out of there was "where's momma"!

Saw some grizz tracks on Sunday but luckily he was nowhere to be found!
