I havn't had a sled in years. But I missed it dearly and I bought a 97' 583 Summit 136" with new 2" lugs. I'm new to the "New" thinks on the sleds. It has some kind of track adjustment system on it. Can anyone tell me where I should adjust this to. It winds in or out in line with the track. The guy I bought it from said if you put it one way the front end lifts off easily, and the other way it stays on the ground. I imagine there is a happy medium somewhere. I just want the track on the ground so I have all the traction I can get. THANKS for the tips in advance.

well i think that adjustment raises and lowers the front end of the track. if you raise the front end of the track, the angle with which the track meets the ground is less, and therefor will climb up on top of the snow easier, when in really deep stuff. if you lower the front of the track, more of the track itself is actually in contact with the ground, so when riding on hard pack you will have more traction.

HUH...Makes sense. Anyone know where a happy medium is so you can climb in snow, but it doesn't want to go over on a steep climb?

The strap loose makes the sled wheelie lifts the skis.(looks cool but can't steer) Tight keeps the skis on the ground (good thing-steering) I adjust mine so the skis only lift off a little under full throttle. Too tight will make it heavy to steer. I'm sure someone here can explain it better. Loose will trench really bad on my sled tight it climbs better.

yep sounds like what i was trying to explain..probably somewhere in the middle would be a good adjustment....you will just have to play with it and see what best suites you..it really isnt to hard to adjust.

Welcome to the site!!!:thumbsup2:
Ask someone out on your first ride and get them to go over the whole sled so you'll understand it a little better and can set it up for what feels right for you.
