You guys should try and leave your brand loyal bubbles once in a while, You would be shocked at the fun your missing.Maybe Iam a brand slut but all these toys are too much fun you got to try more than 1 flavour. Had a Honda sold it, liked it, bought a T.S. 650 liked it, blew it up. Bought two 700 yammies, still like them. Wife real likes the 700. The 650 didnt like the boost, maybe the 950 will. All the negative comments dont bother me its you guys lack of man stupid adventure that makes me wonder. My high level of this man stupid adventure is what makes life goooooood. And drive links are not an issue Murminator after we core shaft. Done bigger H.P. than this.If it dont come with tow ropes, we will carry some. Wont be the first or last machine we drag out if and when it cows out, but we will be riding and busting things so all is good. BoooYaaaah

They need a motor like that to move them. I was out before with my 400 outy and a 650 Cat and I tell you the 400 walks all over the 650 I think because of the weight difference. And Im not tired after a good day of riding after running the machine. The outy 800 is 657 Dry the Cat is 716 lbs Dry  , My Renegade is 607 lbs Dry, The polaris 800 is 757 dry or 802 for the deluxe. The 750 Kawi is the best at 605 lbs Dry. Nothing against the Cat or Polaris atv's, I like the racks on both, the fit and finish is better that BRP's in my opinion. I also like the hitch sytem on the Cat, a real hitch. I think they should start working on reducing the weight of the atv's rather than putting larger engines in them. Have you ever had to lift your ATV out of a mud hole over some fallen tree's??

Just my :twocents:

But what fun would this site be if there wasn't a bit of brand loyality.
Really...let the product speak for itself on the trail...that where it counts. All the bantering on the site is just that...Bantering and Fun:D:D:D

Hey, be nice to us Mods...we keep the peace and need to feel the "Power" at times...kinda like squeez'n the throttle, you know you have it but you "JUST GOTTA FEEL IT" lol.
Hmmm...all that power.

I liked you comment...just stiring the pot so nothing burns at the bottom...made me chuckle.
And I alway carry a tow rope for Catmando uncase he gets stuck at the bottom.
Cheers.

That cat will be fun as hell until it gets stuck. then it wont be fun for you or the person helping you. Im sorry but the bigger they are the harder they are to terrain.
even my grizzly has spots where the ol mans honda makes it look bad namely navigating in really tight bush and it pisses me off too when i see him take a sharp corner over a spot with tall roots on both ends and mine slides off the one root and gets stuck cuz my tire is jammed into the tree. thats with a grizzly and it happens alot.

not speaking out of my ace here ive rode a few cats (700's) and they were bulky and within a hour i wanted mine back.:sadbanana:

i had the same experience with the 800 popo i rode it was a blast until we started down some winding narrow trailing and it felt clumsy. it was however really strong in mud regardless of the weight but was also running zillas so. ;)

Now im all for power as much as the next guy. but i agree these manufacturer's need to watch the weight and keep the quads nimble and trainable.

That said. not everyone is like me. some people are perfectly fine driving big fast heavy 5 point turning machines. just not me. I really wish we could reverse the trend tho and get these companies to cut the weight and give us performance increases.. for example yamahas 500 4 stroke in the phaser puts out 80hp or something crazy like that and they cut weight to 500lb. this is the kind of thing im waiting for myself only in ATV's :D

So lets petition to have that high reving sled motor droped in a Renegade type chassis and start a new breed. What would it be like to have a 1000cc R1 engine in a 650lb quad..............I think I need some kleenex.

Cheers!

well the engine would be geared to run at a higher RPM range and kick in at a higher RPM range but i mean 80hp .. the outlander is 60 hp so even when your down 20 hp off the power band your still gona be riding a neck snaper. you toss that in any ATV and it will be killer. id love to see that 500 go into a wolvarine

950 VTwin EFI... count me in! Sounds like it should be a real stump puller, lots of tourque I hear, also a lower riding hieght and longer wheel base (2 inches longer), suspension tuned for better high speed handling with little comprimise to riding in the nasty stuff or technical riding. I'm sure in a year or two other manufacturers will step up to match the power but for now good for Cat... thats a big stretch from their 700 flagship atv.

Brand loyalty is the leading cause of blindness; the number one reason why people gladly settle for second best; the most common reason for buying something they really didn't want.:p

The discussions on power to weight: Anyone ride a Quadzilla? Bombies have nothing for these 15+ old machine and I doubt the AC 950 will either.

I am all for any manufacturer bringing new technology to the sport (IRS, EFI, Power Steering, Disk Brakes, etc), but larger (read "heavier") engines are not what we need (IMO). The Renagade was a good move, but I was hoping for a 4X4 in the DS650 or Rapter 700.

BTW, part of the definition for an ATV is: ...no more than 800 pounds, no more than 800cc... If it does not fit within the ATV definition, it likely becomes an OHV. Legislation is set up to deal with these two different vehilces on separate basises. South of the border there already are places to use an ATV but not an OHV. Just something to consider.

Well put! I guess it's like sleds, the aftermarket world, mod-shops and lots of talented garage tuners have opened doors to create sleds that are second to none, both in power and purpose-built usage. In turn, we see manufactures put out some interesting sleds......is the atv market skewing that way? You bet!
