Howdy folks, new here, and trying to figure something out on my 95 Kodiak ATV, this is the high lo model, when I shift into reverse it will jump in and out of gear, now I assume this is a cable that is out of adjustment, my question is, do I tighten it up, or loosen it up to get the gears back in the proper alignment, in other words, adjust the cable to the front of the bike or back?

Thanks for any help you can provide, I just don't want to screw anything up, so figure I would ask those who know more than I.

I thought the Kodiak had a shifter with a hard linkage shaft off the side that went to a lever on the transmission. You can disconnect that shaft and you can manually feel the gears and adjust accordingly, unless i'm wrong.

Thanks,

This one has a cable that goes into the transmission right near the shifter handle, our local shop here won't give you any information, they just told me to bring the bike in..they basically said, ya that cable needs to be adjusted, but would not give me any further information and the Clymers service manual on this model is very light on information about this transmission.

Thanks again.

make sure your external linkage isnt bent, also a combination of that an out of adjusted cable may be the problem.. we havent had any that i remember that you had to split the cases on there pretty tough...
