My thoughts on this, the x engine already runs 13:1 for compression, id stay away from cutting the head and look a little deeper for bigger gains. Porting these engines works VERY well;)

This is a really big part for me when spending my cash. Sometimes I don't have the time to do all the research and crap on why my engine goes fast but I just want to squeeze the trigger and stretch my arms out of my shoulder sockets. I like to be able to rely on a pro for that part without feeling stupid.

Ya I was on the fence about what to do as far as "head" or "Port" but after talking with Deano670 and Tom it was pretty easy decision. I never give $$$$$ to anyone who talks down to me or anyone else, I will drive hafe way across alberta to a shop that cares about there custermors and treats them with respect. Both these guys were very helpful and I'm a perma customer now.

Well no one said ya had to shop there.

Your right, and I didn't ask for you to jump all over me either for posting an opinion on a public forum.:kissass::d

I ended up learning to port my own engines.

Porting templates - $89
Die grinder and bits - $70
Beer - $20
10 to 12 horses - priceless.

No no dude dont get me wrong here, the only thing missing from your statement was an Alternative with the same quality, craftsmanship and knowledge. Good ISNT CHEAP and CHEAP isnt GOOD. At any rate you are one of very few that have had TEMPLATES work magic. There is alot of time and effort spent in making porting changes that work. its all just my opinion and im not JUMPING on anyone:cool:

Ive dealt with Tom at Motts in St.Albert, and I felt although he is very busy he always makes the time to come out and talk with you and that means alot about a business. Tom built the engine in my Skidoo an 830 and I have been very pleased with his services. My engine is polished and ported, and was bored to an 830, replaced the crank as well. If your looking for a Cudney head I do have one in the classified section as well.

HOLY HELL!!!! 500 beans thats ridiculous.... Whats the claim to fame on that head. Let me guess 10-15hp gain and a set of wings that'll make you fly.

Thanks, after talking with Tom he said I'm better off to port and polish than to go with a after market head, he said I will see better gains and a broader power through out the RPM range this way. So once I figure out how to pull the jugs I will send them out. Any one have a easy procedure to pull the jugs out?::confused::beer:;):beer:
