okay so after going over it again i stand corrected, 37.59 liters per 100km of driving intown/highway. 2.66 km per liter of fuel was my average fuel useage.

also last year, we drove from armstrong to revy for a sled trip. my tank is a 140L tank was right full to the cap. had the deck 2 sleds 8 jerry cans full of fuel, 16' car trailer with two sleds,bbq, food for 8 people for two nights ect, ect. i had 265/70/16 winters on the truck and i put $20.00 gas in the tank in sicamous just so i knew i would make it home safe. so total gas that went into the tank was 155 liters gas light was on when i hit armstrong safe to say 130l was used

126km each way 252 round trip = 1.93 km per liter/ 51.81 liter per 100 km driving.


again sorry guys i dont mean to come off as an azzhat or someone like LHF, far from it. i honestly never knew it was this bad or thought it would be. i never care about fuel economy, i dont have lots of money but just dont worry about fuel costs. it was the wife who always told me the truck is a tank to drive, and we would fight about how much it used. now i see she was right. SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH haha.

Had a '99 Chev 2500 6L 3.73 4 speed 2wd, got damn good mileage on the highway...not so much for town, but it's a truck! Towed/hauled great, loads of power far as I was concerned, if it wasn't for the electrical gremlins I would have kept it.

I drive an 03 F250 with the 5.4 and a six speed manual transmission

Pretty gutless, but if you aren't in a rush, it works. I've recently found slowing down will save me money.

Sure isn't great on fuel, but isn't terrible at the same time.

I have a 2011 F250 with the 6.2 gas motor & have 99700 kms on it. Ive added a CAI and box cover & have gottem 800+ kms (unloaded) from a single 130 L. tank. The truck has never been in the shop for anything other than regular oil changes & it runs like a champ. I pulled my 31' (7300 lbs.) holiday trailer down to Great Falls in the summer & still got 400 kms out of a tank & thats down hiway 2 at 120 - 125. Im not going to win any races to the top of the hill with the diesels, but as long as your fine with this, you can save alot of money up front, and in the long run as everyone knows diesel's cost more to maintain. I have seen some used 2011 gas for sale with low kms on them, and highly recomend it.

What rear end gearing does it have? That's a big tank.

I can say the same, I have a 2011 f-350 with 6.2L and has been a great truck 122000 km and still counting. I can get 750km to 120 L empty but i would say everyday driving gets me 600 km to 115L. When pulling if you it at 100-110 you keep it in 5th gear and it tugs along pretty good. Go with a 350 most of everything is the same except you'll get extra leafs in the back and it won't squat down.

My last 3 trucks were all diesel and aside from some heavy pulling i prefer driving the gas everyday.

3.73 with manual locker (FX4 Pkg) the new 6 speed tranny helps, 115 km/hr she revs @ about 1700-1800 RPM's. Yea its a pretty big tank but its nice to have the range.
What rear end gearing does it have? That's a big tank.

If you are looking for a big gas engine, you could try to get what i'm running, I've got a '05 2500HD Sierra with a 8.1L engine. I've certainly got no problems pulling anything, but it can't get the milage some of the other guys on here have been talking about. I ran it from Calgary to Regina with just the deck on and was getting in the range of 16-18L/100km, but as soon as i load up 2 sleds on the deck and drive it through the mountains from Calgary to Golden, I'm in the 22-26L/100km range. It has a Allison transmission, so needless to say that after 150k (probably with 70% being miles with a load) I've had no problems like some of the others transmissions I've read about. It comes witha 140L gas tank, so it isn't cheap to fill, but with any smaller of tank i wouldn't be able to make it very far!

I have seen a few turbo 8.1's. Apparently they do pretty well for fuel consumption when on boost.

I know a guy with one. Has under 60,000k on it. Never drives it. I thought it would make a decent project.

I had an '01 2500HD CCSB 4X4 with an 8.1. My dad has a '00 2500 ECSB 4X4 with the 6.0L and we got nearly identical mileage over the course of the year based on mileage. The 8.1 wasn't the best daily driver in the world, but I sure wouldn't be scared to buy another one for towing on the weekends.
