They really haven't had to until the doo turbo. The 2018 Cat 800 is as strong as the doo 850. I haven't rode a Poo Poo 850 but they say the same.

The skidoo 850 absolutely destroys the exploding-clutch-water-inhaling-nonstop-bogging-pile-of-trash known as the 2018+ arctic cat 800. They shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence. I’m just talking about the NA Doo 850. Nevermind the turbo.

And this is exactly why Doo never has to worry about sales.

I won't bother commenting on power because the Cat does rum well. Less than full throttle.power the 850's have more.

But, ride any Etec motor and both the Cat and Polaris 2 strokes feel a generation behind in run quality and throttle response.

LOL, Just because you had a lemon really puts zero validity into your rant. But hey, if it makes you feel better about switching brands, all the power to you.

everyone knows johnny is a little bit of an agressive rider. if he is in fact now on a doo his troubles will be over. 200 days a season of blissful riding without a glitch.
be trading in every two years and still be on the original belt. too bad he couldn't still be dealing with snopro.

In them hills.
Yep, there is so much potential for the power of the doo turbo. We dont need another heavy vibrating pig like a 1000 twin.
Another 10 HP would possibly be at the fuel limit with the doo turbo with the current head and engine setup. I personally do not think this 2021 doo turbo is 165.
Nothing from dynotech yet?

Oh I'm pretty sure he won't show the Doo anymore mercy than the Poo's and Cats he's rode. Lol. He should be riding for a factory testing product. Tell you a little story told to me about Johnny. My nephew and his best friends are all really good buddies of Chris Burandts. They either drive down south to ride with him or they fly him up to their cabin here and supply him a dealer demo to ride while he's here. Last year buddy drops into Toilet Bowl at Boulder accidentally. They knew Burandt was at Grizzly Lodge so they phoned him and asked him if he would slip over to Revy to ride buddies sled out. Burandt tells them to phone Johnny because he rides there and is a better rider than himself. Long story short Johnny looked at it and said sleds only coming out on a long line so helicopter it was. Quite a compliment from one of the best riders on the planet. So Mr. Giles be careful what you say. HaHa!

Hope I didn't embarrass you JH! Lol

Ha ha, I’m not even sure I remember this. I owe a lot of where I am to learning how to ride from Chris but I am nowhere near his skill level. Every time I thought I became a better rider and went back to Colorado he improved as much as I did and I was never able to close the gap. Also I’d say despite the fact that I’ve become a toxic ski-doo maximalist, all the current mountain sled offerings are really great.

So with BRP discontinuing the E-tec in the Evinrude line for "newer technology" I would say that the writing is on the wall for bigger electric boat motors. I believe this will also be planned for their sleds and the 850T 2 stroke will eventually be dead. Not for 2022 however, but with e-sleds in mind I don't believe you will see a lot more money pumped into the turbo to enhance it too much or add much more power. I'm sure BRP is testing e-sleds already and you will first see trail sleds for use in parks such as Yellowstone for tours. Polaris is releasing a 925 4 stroke but that does nothing for us mountain guys. Word is they might have a turbo version to compete with the ACE900 turbo. Cat is waiting on Yamaha to release a new big 2 stroke turbo that can be used in both Cat and Yamaha sleds. Cat likely will still build the chassis.
You asked for predictions.

Oh ya and I still believe BRP will cut the 850 motor in half and build a purpose built snowbike with reverse and a CVT clutch.

The big problem with an electric sled is that a gas powered sled has 330kWh of energy compared to a 25-30 kWh battery. That is a 10x difference.

Ya I cant see myself feeling comfortable heading into the mountains with a battery powered sled. Maybe a trail sled but even then its a lot easier to grab fuel or borrow some if your out, and where would you charge the thing when your on a trip? Doesn't seem very realistic but I guess you never know.

Ya I would be screwed at my cabin. I dont have power as an option to charge at night.
