If Cat comes out with a 900 then all Doo has to do is crank up the boost by another pound on the Turbo and just like that they stay at the front of the bus! I bet that even if they came out with a "Race Turbo" version with 2 lbs more boost and 1 year warranty there would be a long line up of buyers.

Doo doesn't need to worry about a long line of buyers. The Doo faithfuls always think they have the best no matter what.

I don't know why anybody think cat is going to do something big. They have lost so many dealers and only had something like less than 800 snow checks in Canada.

I get what you are saying, but if you don’t think the new turbo is working fantastic you are crazy.

Never ridden one so can't comment. If I was in the 2 stroke market I might consider it but the power is still underwhelming compared to a turbo 4 stroke (yes I know they are heavy). But any manufacture pushing the envelope is a good thing for us all no matter the brand.

I would think Doo is investing a lot of engineering time into Electric sleds for the next big launch 5-10 years from now. Once they dial these in, they are going to be unreal to whip around. Figure out weight balance etc, I’m sure that’s the next big push. Not for 2022 but something to keep your eyes on. For now Turbo time

I spent the day on the electric Harley and wow. Crazy fast bike. Silent also. I could actually hear the brake pads working. That
instant torque on a sled would be insane

yea, no clutches, no drivetrain = no powerloss. Direct drive. if they can get the weight down and battery life up thatll be the way to go.

Coming from the utility/trail market i would like to see electric power steering. Yamaha has it hope DOO puts it in the Gen 4 wide body. Hey not all us Snow and Mudders are mountain riders. Just adding to the wish list.

its funny people said the same thing about ATV’s and now it’s hard to sell a used quad without it. I understand it’s different market but for trail riding it sure would be nice for a lot of people and don’t forget the eastern market is huge! If they could magically add it to a mountain sled with no weight penalty it would be unreal. Make it way easier sidehill if over old tracks and ruts or at least it sure seems that way based on what it did for ATV market.

They could get half way there with the implementation of rack steering. Doo used this on their RS's for a number of years and with a bit of modification, worked really well in the XM's!

I think we'll see some subtle changes.

I think Cat and Yamaha will stand put. There was too much uncertainty until late this fall of where they could or could not sell sleds and I bet this causes some supply chain issues, in addition to other supply chain issues, and will take a year to sort out. Cat went to preseason ordering only and they have to be really regretting this - with the way the market went this season, no having floor units to sell at full MSRP has to really suck for the dealers.

Polaris is due for something. I find it hard to believe they are going to let Doo run away with 850T sales. It's difficult to argue that the 850T has been very successful and owns all the hype in the mountain market. Polaris is due to make some sort of a change just to keep people rolling in the door. It doesn't have to be a big change, I would guess they have no inventory left like everyone else, but they do need something to entice buyers to snow check. Picking colors and options in snocheck isn't going to do it this year. Plastics would be enough to keep interest for another year.

Doo is at an interesting cross roads. They have everything going for them IMO. The turbo has been very successful and it sounds like it's also been very reliable. I could see the large gauge package come from the Spyder/trail machines. I could also see a refresh of the plastics coming, but only to the upper end models. Rear skid is tired and needs an update. I doubt the turbo will get a boost in power this year. No competition, and who knows how this plays into emission limits if the boost is wicked up a bit? I could see some lighterweight pieces added to a turbo Expert Model. We are due for some exotic materials to show up - but at what price? The price of these things are stupid. I've been saying it for years, but I do see Doo coming back with a 3/4 sized sled. If there was ever a year to capture momentum from all the people buying toys, this is it and now is the time to put something like this out. Cat/Yamaha have it, but it's too damm expensive - I'm not buying a 11K single cylinder machine for my 10 year old. Go back to the parts bins and rejig some XP parts with molds that are paid for and build something smaller and more price competitive. If it's 7,500-8K, I bet they won't be able to build enough of them. First group to build something in this market is going to be rolling in cash I believe.

I'm not cat guy, but grew up in a Yamaha shop and I would love to see the 120-400 segment get more attention from all the brands, but can only agree with the current prices being insane.

But with no demo rides, no shows, no one can really even see these things. order and wait? **** that

thats one thing all manufacturers need to do better at is getting butts on seats. I must have had 100 people text me and ask me if the new turbo was worth snowchecking, of course i said yes lmao. but the fact you cant try something before dropping 23k is a bit outrageous. Skidoo is no exception to this. If you wanted to try a 2020.5 Turbo last year you couldn't.

that being said, maybe thats a smart business move. Sell 1000 sleds, each of those people will let their buddies try it, next year 3000, etc. you get my point. Self marketing at no extra cost to the manufacturer

It would be nice to see Cat care to compete in the hp/tq wars again.

They really haven't had to until the doo turbo. The 2018 Cat 800 is as strong as the doo 850. I haven't rode a Poo Poo 850 but they say the same.
