You are correct sir ... that cat works I had a 800 out pull my 850 the other day but I knew 100%that my left ankle was not going to be full of shrapnel.
Some people may have problems with their cat primary but I have not and I ride the $hit outta mine, over 3200km, bone stock clutching not a crack or issue at all, just changed the original belt because i figured it was time. Also that little 800 with the far more efficient clutching/ driveline hangs with 850's all day and even walks on them when they trench to china and all with 10 less hp on the dyno........ yes some people are breaking the primary but lots arent and acually I dont know one personally who has so tell me how they dont perform good or arent good

Since yamaha is known to be one of the most reliable machines out there, would they put there name on something that is failing or is a huge problem ? Im curious if they changed something on there clutches or is it the exact same as the alpha primary?

I feel this was set to be released based only off 2020 MY Cat sled results and maybe they believe the problem has been cured or too late for them to change it hence the 3 month warranty only. I’m betting no changes to anything.

It’s not normal that new clutch flies apart. Ever.
After the three month warranty expires and you blow a clutch the cost is far from $600.
1. New pri-$1000
2. New sec-$500
3. New belt-$200
4. New pipe-$500
5. New clutch guard-$150
6. New bellypan-$500
7. New side panel-$250
8. Stickers-$150
9. Labor-$1,000

$4,250 plus tax. That’s only if you can get parts. I’m not saying don’t buy the sled, I like it. Consumers need to aware of what can happen. There’s no surprises that way.

Your negative. I’m blocking you. Buh bye.

Not all primary issues are going to require anything other than the primary unless you don't catch it and it explodes. Yep, then it will be expensive, but me thinks you are estimating on the high side. Belly pan is $128, not $500. Sticker are included on a $250 side panel. A belt and secondary are not necessarily going to need replacing. And $1000 labour? The only difficult piece is changing the primary and maybe the bellypan. 2 hours max.

The biggest issue would be that the crank might get damaged and reduce the life of the engine. Although not a lot different than a doo that was blowing a belt every 200 miles for the life of the machine. Unbalanced broken primary spinning maybe will cause more crank bearing damage?

He showed me the pics and he ruined Every single part you listed there. 2 weeks before that at eagles pass a friend of mine rented a 2018 Alpha and had the exact same thing happen. Clutch parts everywhere, spring sitting 30ft from the sled. . But looking at my friends 2018 Alpha its not showing signs of anything so i duno

2 in my group ride 2018 mountain cats and have not had any problems with clutches in close to 5000 miles. I myself agree that the yamaha clutches would make the sled that much better. I myself hate the built on shaft secondary. But JMO
