Im guessing if Edmonton still has mask mandate, and the event is mask mandatory the turnout is going to be pretty crappy. I feel for the vendors that shelled out cash last year, and will likely have to use that credit this year only to have a crappy turnout.

Why do you say a poor turnout?

you make a good point on "being asked where you're from"..... but how many people would actually take the time to speak to someone and give them that information? I'm serious here, Sledderglen and I both work very closely with the ASA and will happily share any feedback, but if its friday at 4, and you're rushing in to get the latest deal on Klim Bikini Style Underwear from Martin Motorsports, are you actually goign to take the 2 minutes to give someone at the door/ticket booth your Postal Code, or City/Province so that we can get an accurate gauge as to the demographic?
Hey man…. First off I want to be clear that I can appreciate all the work that goes into an event such as this. I know for some people, including myself, it is the kick off to the season and get people pumped up! It’s a big deal!

But….. you missed my point….
The comment sledder glen made was that the show’s heavy support comes from north central AB…. But without asking people where they are attending from, how would you know this to be true…??

If there is only one event in AB, and it occurs in north central AB. Wouldn’t it be reasonable to expect the highest attendance to be from the local area. I could apply the same logic to saying that if there was only one sled show per season in western Canada, and it happen to be held in Saskatoon, one would expect that the greatest amount of attendees would be from the north central Saskatchewan area….?!

I could be mistaken in all of this, but without the data, we’re all just guessing….

With the state of the current economy… a grassroots event, that’s reasonably priced for vendors, reasonably priced for attendees, a reasonably priced can of beer, free parking, and makes the ASA some money, is what I’m guessing the average guy would be happy with… ?!

But I don’t have the data… so just a gut feeling here..?!

I think Glen's statement is based upon attendance when there used to be the two shows, the Edmonton one was always WAY better attended.

I have an email into the Show Producer and Executive Director of the ASA for a statement on masks, and will share that when I get it back.

Expo Center is owned by the City of Edmonton though, so I feel we will be at the mercy of whatever rules they have in place.

We will be at their mercy and the Edmonton mask mandate is in place until December 31 OR until cases fall below 100/100000 for 10 consecutive days.... The only way masks will not be required is if the ASA applies for an exemption based on proof of vaccination OR negative test within 48 hours which I suspect would alienate just as many. Damned if you do, damned if you don't....

the mask mandate does state that it need not be worn whilst eating or drinking........

I think we should get this thread back on track. Masks and Covid are uncontrollable by the vendors or the attendees.

What are you looking for if you attend? Who's booth are you most excited to visit?
Has anyone heard what the grand prize is this year?

I don’t think will see much for deals on gear imho. There is very little carry over. Most places sold all they had and with new stuff slow to arrive. Why sell yourself short at a loss for a show special ??

It’s a sled show, let’s all wear balaclavas!
The masking is totally BS. That will hurt the venue, hopefully it’s not canceled.
