No matter what you hear and read on these sites, well over 90% is BS. Yamaha "could" return to the 2 stroke world but why would they.
Its called market share secured. While the other three are fighting to compete and in most cases but not all struggling to sell all their current model and having to carry over models a costly endeavor. Yamaha doesn't have any competition in their market share (4 stroke), the other three all tried and failed miserably at it.
Yamaha is involved in many other things and have always done well, motorcycles,watercraft, outboards, atv's, automotive component development such as EFI, musical instruments and so on. The sled part of their business is a part of numerous others that make Yamaha who they are today.
While some western rider's have wishful thinking, Yamaha small market in the west is solely owned by Yamaha and in the east Yamaha has a significantly larger market but more importantly has NO competition again. What they do have is true loyal fallowing of customers throughout the west and east.
If you want a 2 stroke, there are 3 other's fighting in the corner for your business. If your a 4 stroke fan and want a 4 stroke, look no further, there is no one but Yamaha.
Very smart on Yamaha, they own their market and that secures their future, can't say that about those other 3.
So dream on about a Yammi 2 stroke, it ain't happening as the 4 stroke sled business is just too good....no competition.

After you spend some time sledding in the east Ill agree with Lund. Four strokes are growing and growing on that side of the country. Who wants to be rebuilding 2 smokes every year anyway.

Seeing we are talking about snowmobiles and a proposed new 2 stroke I guess its my bad? Maybe the guitar division is supporting the motorsports division? Lucky for them.

Can you imagine if yamaha actually put some effort in on something like this? Would be pretty incredible. Triple fuel injected 2 stroke in a modern chassis would be unreal.

That would be sweet to have a modern chassis 2 stroke Yamaha sled. It looks like Yamaha is introducing a 65cc 2 smoker dirt bike, which is awesome IMO. Just sucks that I bit the bullet and bought my little guy a KTM 65 in the fall. I know it's a different industry , but maybe Yamaha is starting to think about introducing new 2 stroke powered machines.

Another thing that a lot of north american's, especially sledder's will cringe at, is 2 strokes do not fit the Yamaha core value and philosophy that they set for them selves. There is plenty of info. and reads on this, take some time to review it, what i posted here is only one of many more reads.

The core value they have set for them selves and in the grand scheme of things 2 strokes can not reliably be made to meet certain standards that fit their goals. So no 2 strokes.

Absolutely, there is nothing wrong with dreaming. I too wish there was a 2 stroke option, with Yammi reputation in quality and reliability i probably be riding one.

got a 900 at the farm and about to get a 600.
not every sled is about eyes watering behind your googles.
Sometimes quiet multistage power in one sled is required so all family members can take turns on one sled.
Amazingly quiet. Can talk while doubling without a headset and even to the ski-boose passengers.

Yamaha will no doubt be adding another 4 stroke to the 200 released.
I think an updated phaser.

2 stroke 860-I would try one if it ever happened.
