Did anyone see burants vid.... as if that guy is impressed or happy with anything besides a turbo for where he rides. 850 my ass.

Polaris made some well thought out changes. Nice to see the manufacturers bringing innovation to the masses.

Them HP numbers don't seem to add up? Polaris was right at the 155hp mark at the max hp so 9% more would be 168. nowhere near the 177 claimed. curious to see where you got them numbers from?

Plus The Dealer, and Chris brown both claimed those numbers. I never really payed attention to the HP numbers on the poo but I Thought the HP increased when the axys was released.

The 800 etec was claimed for years it was 163hp, than all of a sudden it dropped in claimed HP when the 850 was released.
If the HP increased on the 850 than why does my 174 800 make the same trackspeed as a 175 with me riding both, on the same hill??

Why are some people so hung up on single ring pistons?
If dual ring piston's were so much better, they would go that route. There obviously is a good reason they went with just one.

YES. Although with 4 year warranty I'm really considering snowchecking. Ride the crap out of it for 2 years, sell it with 2 years warranty remaining. Kinda of a no brainer if polaris pays for the rebuilds lol

horsepower claims have always been crap.
I think their history of claims on horsepower read something like this:
2007 - Now 151 HP - 8 HP increase
2010 - Now 153 HP - 8 HP increase
2013 - Now 158 Hp - 8 HP increase
2017 - Now 163 HP - 8 HP increase

They can put a number on it but then someone will put it on a dyno and dispel that number.

By saying it’s %9 higher than the HO when someone runs the HO on a dyno then the new motor on the same dyno they should see a %9 increase. So regardless of who’s dyno it’s on it should see the increase if the previous Liberty was also dyno’d


Is that so hard to understand?

Do has been running single ringed pistons for years and they worked well. Don't worry about it.

That was disappointing. Classic case of the marketing guys dictating the engineering group. I could just hear what was being said at the board room meeting, Fist pounding on the desk, WE NEED AN 850 FOR NEXT SEASON!! I guess 850 is the new standard in two strokes.

Ya... I'm afraid you're way off the mark. I spent a few days with the engineers learning and riding the new 850. The 850 Patriot has been in the works for over four years, so it isn't a case of fist pounding as you suggest. I snowmobiled with the Engineers as well in West Yellowstone. Those guys are all rippers, and know exactly what we want, and why we want certain aspects of design because they are riders too.

Thanks for sharing MOMMA! So... how was the 850 in terms of the seat of the pants dyno? Significant difference vs Axys 800? Your riding impressions?

Having had the privilege of riding the 850 Patriot I can honestly say it's like nothing I've ever experienced. Smooth.. incredibly smooth, and even more agile than the 16 17 18 Axys (I didn't think that was possible) The Power isn't like an arm stretching burst of power, it too is smooth, easy to navigate, and when you squeeze the fun flipper to the hammer, man it goes. You feel that power, but also have the confidence to be able to navigate with precision. It's truly incredible, easy to hold an edge (they revamped the rear of the running boards to produce less drag in the snow) You can do wayyyy more from a neutral position and for me that was huge. The ability to conserve energy riding is a huge plus, busting out moves only when necessary. The flick of a hip and that narrow front end responds predictably getting on edge with ease. You guys can throw out all the speculation in the world all hypothetical, but for me I was astounded by the difference in feel and agility of the 850 Patriot. I think for a person with exceptional skill, ya for sure it will up your game, but for people who are intermediate riders, this will make life so much easier allowing you to gain more skill and confidence at an expedited rate. you have all that 850 power when you need it with no lurchy surprises. I absolutely am in love.

Holy Freakin HUGE.. I mean HUGE difference. It's a wonderful awesome kind of oomph of power. Gives me goosebumps. In my head I was "look at me go.. look at me go!!! I'm still going!!! woo hooo!!!!! "

Nice Catch Cuso.. It is still on the axys platform, with so many changes it doesn't feel at all like the 16 17 and 18's I've had. It is a completely different ride all together. Still light and agile, yet so incredibly smooth. I didn't realize I had vibration, until I jumped between the two sleds realizing the 850 Patriot was like slicing melted butter when I was on it. there are many changes besides the motor
compare the difference between the snowcheck 850 and the 800 pro rmk. It's pretty awesome, and you absolutely feel the difference.
