Had a lot of sleds and all them have needed scratchers on hard pack trails to keep temps in check and track clips and sliders happy.

You hear lots of things but in my experience your own findings are the best .

Why don't ya put them down every ride, needed or not??

My 14 xm 163 for example has 10000 km on the original sliders and there still over half there , and they get used pretty much every ride

Yup me to if I am on the trail scratchers down! I had no snow flap and no idler wheels anywhere in the skid and had over 3500km ( I think if not more ) on stock slides.

I run ski scratchers I got from teth air as well as the stock scratchers for marginal snow. Works great. PM him.

I had same issue of overheating on trail right away... Dealer changed out my thermostat... All good now, I took off mud flap long ago, no issues now. Guy can also try water wetter, and a few other high end coolants out there, helps. Snow flaps hold you up too much when chit gets real gnarly and you gotta chew to China. Alphas dig so good out of a hole it's crazy.

will pass the t stat issue onto the one guy constantly having an issue. IMO he shouldn't be having a problem in the conditions we have been in

Yep, sounds like exactly what mine was doing, bet that fixes it right away...

Wait.......... Am I missing something? How exactly does the snow flap on an arctic cat help with the cooling?

Will help with bringing cooling to the front cooler as well rather then evacuation everything out the back .
At least in my finding over the years .

Was a thread on Snowest about cooling. Guys were saying to top up your antifreeze bottle above the level line. Guys that topped up quit having cooling problems.

Water wetter is made for water with no coolant

Unless your sled is has water in it , water wetter will do nothing

How, on an AC? The cooler is in the front and nothing in the tunnel.

Snow bounces off flap onto track and gets pitched onto coolers up front.

my 18 when even at a balmy -20c the front cooler will ice over and water temp will climb. Have to tip sled on side and knock off mushy ice and temps go down right away. Never had that on a sled before. Happens at higher speeds.

Thanks Tips.... It's been a while, thanks for that.

Regardless, thing cools proper now, got finished today smoking a bunch if 174" Doo's, all day.... Alpha keeps like 10 mph more track speed at least. Things a Weapon! Can start at base of steep hill with no run and still be carrying more speed than Doo at the top.

Over 500kms on the sled, motor fully bedded in, man this thing pulls!!! Can dig itself out of any hole, it's friggin nuts.
