HaHa you sound like a politician. Its not even steven but suck it up anyways. No use arguing enjoy your win. lol

These are differences in 10ths of seconds.
One lard azz driving and results will change.
These are advertising differences.
Not much more, it's adapting to second place on paper that is tough.

Without the window in the piston skirt they can no longer be injecting into the crank case at higher throttle positions like before.

It's funny how the hype from a design one year becomes quietly swept under the rug in later years. All manufacturers do this. I wonder if it's an emission thing that pushed them to redesign because I think it had nothing to do with lack of power or poor reliability. It would be nice for the Cat guys if it was to bump power to keep up with the 850's. It is also entirely possible that this new design will be easier to bump to a 850 when the time comes. I hope by then Cat won't be chasing even bigger motors from Doo or Polaris.

The alpha has no trouble at all keeping up with the 850s. The 800 ctec is a very strong engine.

It's the chassis that gives them an edge. I will take some 850 power to go with it any time.

I was very anti-cat for all my years of riding(25+)....after owning the Sidewinder and liking the chassis feel... I bought a 18 cat. Man that was the funnest sled I’ve owned to date. Just waiting for my 2020 to arrive. At 6’5” 230 I couldn’t believe how it carried my arse around the trees. Lol. I’m sold on it for sure.

I dont think its the chassis in general, I rode and personally raced both 2019 mtn cat and a alpha, against my 850 Doo, I was on the cat and my buddy was on my sled. We swapped riders as well.
The track and the skid make the alpha that much better over the mtn cat, cat vs cat races the alpha definitely had the lead.

This season will be interesting. Don't expect Doo to get any faster but I am looking forward to seeing a race between the Polaris 850 to the Alpha Cat with the new motor. It would be most interesting to try both the Polaris's, one with belt drive and the other with chaincase. They are quite different in gearing, weight and track. From hearing about the new Cat motor I expect it should win no problem but then again who knows if Polaris has massaged the 2020 850??
I raced 2 Skidoo 175's G4's repeatedly last season on a short lake with my 2019 174 Polaris and easily won the races. That is not results you would expect from reading the American Snowmobiler magazine article. Not sure if the different result was gearing, clutching or snow conditions?? Definitely the Doo's are geared too low to get any real track speed going. They certainly don't suffer in the trees though with this low gearing.

I'm eager to put my new Hardcore up against everything on the hill this season. Will be interesting to see it compared to a 2019 even.

Hmmm sounds like a challenge.
Just need a 2020 doo, have a 2019.
I will bring my completely stock 2019 Cat!
Surely this can be arranged.
Will have to look for the 2020 doo , no one in my group picked up a new doo.
You are going to like that new Cat!!
