2019/2020 Mcbride Conditions and Updates

This is the biggest one Ive ever seen, seen more that day as well.
The circled part, myself and the guy I was with shoveled that out for hours to break the trail in. Took us all day to break that trail amd got back at the truck at 10pm.

This was what we saw when we went back in the next day, pretty sobering, the pic does not do it justice

I am with Randy Snochuk in regards to the scale of the avy through the area. We were coming out a number of years ago and some where around the 11 km????, we stopped as overheating. All of sudden, boom down it came right where we had just been traveling.
it was the most eerie feeling. The group was pretty quiet after that. The scale of it was staggering.

I wish I had pictures of the avy that I saw on the access road to Rocky Point. map say there are 7 avy paths to cross we could ever only count 5 until the one year we went and we found the other two. Massive avy coming from the top of the mountain all the way down to the forestry road. Piled up 25 feet hi and temporarily damming off the reek or river next to it.

I am thinking this will be for the Easter long weekend only. But who knows.
Not sure what kind of enforcement, if any will go along with these?

don't think there is going to any type of enforcement. borders are not closed. think its just a reminder for people like you said...for the long weekend.

Seen the some trucks heading west, how is the trail holding up? Or the snow up top?

I'm wondering the same thing. At 4000' here in town we lost almost all our snow; and the bush roads out here around the plant and field have went from snow covered, to mud, and are now actually starting to dry from the warm winds mixed with some rain over the past 5 days. My guess is that the Renshaw trail all the way along the creek will be a mix of mud and slush until about km 18 when it starts to gain elevation quicker.

wow, if I am reading this properly, it seems like you are mocking the people of McBride. kind of a careless comment from someone of your stature in the sledding world. McBride is just trying to protect their community. If I read your comment wrong, I apologize.

Ya you certainly did. I was just posting information. I support the mcbride club and spend a good portion of my winter there. Most of my best friends live there. Certainly not mocking. I’ll let it slide, I’m not known for coming across well on the internet lol

Snow had a crust that soften up around 10 am. Probed 2 spots which were both deeper then my 10’ probe. Sledding into June this year.

You can actually ride the mountains without impacting the town if you go fully prepared. Go to the hill, ride, go home. Don't go into town at all and you have no impact on the community. Grande Cache is a small town as well with a small hospital which my daughter is an RN at and my wife runs the pharmacy there as well. So I get the idea of burdening the health care facilities. But we still have a lot of workers coming and going as well as through traffic from Hinton to Grande Prairie etc..... We can't close our town down to the rest of the world; and neither can any other town. We can get through this by respecting peoples space and keeping contact to a minimum; but in the end there still is common sense in all this.
