Well, I’ve always rode McBride. Only been to Valemount a couple times and Revy once. In the last 3 years, since the trail fees have increased to $25, I feel the grooming has also improved and been top notch. Thank you to Rod and the other groomer operators.

As far as the money in McBride vs. Vale, I don’t think it’s even in the same ballpark. Look at the traffic and tourism in Vale, year round, vs. McBride. And most of northern AB and Sask that go to the mountains head to Vale. Just the way she goes.

This is the best start to the season for McBride in years. Hell, everyone scratching that itch, up until a week ago, had known this season McBride has been the place to go. Hope this helps the town, but long term, everyone will be going back to their old favorite zones. The added cash flow for trail fees for this influx of early season sledders might help with repairs and upgrades but grooming can only be done with as much man power, time and snow as allows it to. The groomer operators usually have families and jobs and I don’t think they get enough applause and thanks that they deserve.

I wish this Christmas and work BS wouldn’t get in the way of my sledding addiction!

Over two feet of fresh snow on that trail I am not going to lie I cursed the whole way down but it is what it is. a mid day groom would have been nice in theory But I am just thankful it not the norm to be like it was Saturday.

I concur Rusty, I too did some cursing myself, and yes the ole back and other things definitely got a work out, especially first ride of season. However now that I am back on the grind of work, I can say this little excerpt to all......any day sledding and out on the mountain,,,,,,is a better day than work!!!!!! Just sayin!

I rode McBride on Monday and inquired about the trail not being groomed on Sunday to which the ticketmaster replied that the groomer had a family function. Family first in my opinion and good for him but on Monday that trail was the smoothest trail I have been on in a long while, the Winder hit some warp speeds forsure, I was up in 10-15 minutes! If you can't handle the whoops load back up and go somewhere else but in most cases the ride up top is well worth the agony and right now Renshaw has miles of untouched pow, get out there and ride and just be happy that you are even on a snowmobile, think of all of those that are sitting at there boring desk jobs ho hum.

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
I think he was being sarcastic lol - headed to that tiny sledding area tomm - I'm so excited I might piss on the carpet

Yes I am aware of the sarcasm. No biggie.

Currently, Mcbride is the BC hot spot so there will be peeps reading this that aren’t familiar with the area. They may take the comment serious and base their trip decisions on the info.

After the Kanedog Bureau of Investigation(KBI) expose’ on “Inside Mcbride Grooming” I will do my best to make up for the butthurtness and help fill the great town with sledders. Go Mcbride go!

False. Almost the largest sled area in BC. Not even close to tracked out. Deep pow. Groomed trails. Mcbride loves Sledders. Get it!

Not almost.... Renshaw is the largest mapped/managed snowmobiling area in BC .

If someone posts that it's tracked out they're either pulling your leg or never left the cabin area.

FYI, it is snowing on the hills, and has been trying to off and on in town.

If your area have any extra snow maybe send it down to Fernie. We will return the favor when we get lots and you guys don't.

It’s funny to read the comments about poor grooming. If you can’t handle the whoops, stay home. I can remember heading into Renshaw from the Holmes River side back in the mid 90’s; if you ever went in that way you wouldn’t complain. The waterfall was an adventure both ways.
It all comes down to just quit whining about everything and go enjoy your time outside. Show your kids the mountains and have fun. That’s what it’s all about

Props to that post!

Snowing in town this morning, inch or so of new snow on the trucks this morning. If you're headed this way drive safe folks.
