Get over it Troy. That is the way BRP does it and I don't see it changing. To each their own I'm guessing but I went from a Vertical Escape 2004 to a 2005 Summit back in the day. I actually liked the steering on the Summit much better. Maybe I'm comparing apple and oranges since it was soooooo long ago. Remind me once again, what did you ride before the Poo?

A Nytro, and an xp.

I think with the style of riding we do, that steering is what caused my shoulders and wrists to be so sore. That all seemed to go away on the Pro, and never noticed it on the Cats I rented either- not even on the tank 1100's.

I do agree though, that i can't see them changing it. If the brand loyal guys don't have a problem with it, why bother? But that part alone keeps many potential guys from owning one- myself included.

Anyway, I'll let you guys get back to enjoying your exciting new electric start thing... :)

The SHOT details...
pull start first start of the day
capacitor holds charge for about 30 minutes
while it has charge you have e-start on the start button
apparently enough energy for two normal start attempts
2 lb weight penalty

Not sure why I'd want electric start I have to pull on. The first one of the day is the one that wrecks my shoulder now!

then get the normal 22lb estart i guess? for many of us backcountry freeriders this shot system is the ticket. no extra weight and cuts down substantially on manual starts. this is a huge step in the right direction for mountain machines. everyone wants electric start no one wants the weight.

Are you suggesting I not open minded? Or are you the dinosaur? I can't count how often you share your opinion so it looks more like you are just as much of the problem? Maybe?

It's not like I didn't ride Doo for just about the entirety of my sledding life prior to having a Polaris sans one year in 1992 when I had a Cat. Granted there was a long break from my trail riding days to my mountain life but the first of several mountain sleds were Doo's.

I think it's those who only swear by one brand are the dinosaurs. It's brand X or nothing is all I see from the majority of you. Never willing to give something else a try. Likely why so many riders plateau. They are too brand loyal blind to realize what is holding them back.

Danny look in the mirror? Doug rode Polaris then switched to Doo and loves the sled and is not shy about telling everyone about it. You rode Doo and switched to Polaris and now Doo can't do anything right? Potato, patato? Your argument isn't cutting it bud? Ride your Polaris. Enjoy it. Nobody is trying to sell you on the Doolaid. Lol

Get the estart and its cheaper than the Shot as well, $500 vs $750 for the shot. Pricey little gadget. But cheap when you consider it saves 22 lbs vs Estart.

That is pretty cool with the shot start. Wonder if that will become the new norm just like the electronic engine reverse?
Is there any pics of the rear skid that they changed to keep the front end down?

So enlighten me on how I would be close minded? I rode a brand of sled I enjoyed, so much I bought another, and another, but went to something completely different without even being comfortable on it, sounds like I was open to change does it not? So who should look in the mirror? Doug rode a Polaris, great for him. Now everything but a Doo is junk right? So who is supposed to be looking in the mirror?

Have I said Doo can not do anything right? I am not paid to hype up any brand. I have said countless times ride whats best for you, yet if you say anything about how you do not prefer something about a Doo this forum and its numerous users who bleed yellow find a way to argue otherwise.

Why would I have a brand new XM sitting in the garage if I hated Doo? Its not my primary sled but its there non the less. There are pros and cons to each of them, can't say how often I have said we are lucky to have so much variety to appeal to each type of rider and what they prefer. I like to have fun with a little brand war just like the next guy. If anyone can do so its the guys who have actually gone out and bought a different brand of sled and found out the pros and cons of each for themselves and not sat on the side lines pointing fingers on the internet. lol

this is amazing. would not work on the cat or polaris as there is no way they start in 1/3 crank rotation like an etec. they are still 3 pulls on the starter rope those sloppy old engine technologies
Sounds / looks interesting but does your etec start on 1/3 rotation when you pull start? Didn't look like it in the video. ECU programing controls the starting. I have diesels that are programed to make complete rotation of every cylinder before firing (injecting fuel) in order to build oil pressure and protect the cylinders.

Bout time one of the OEM'S figured this out. New G4 will be the Prius of the sled world. Ha ha.

Good use of tech though and will likely be adopted by the others in the MTN / snowcross segments in short order. Thanks BRP.

I'm sure it will make it to the other manufacturers. Actually surprised it's taken this long to hit the snowmobile world. Capacitive discharge tech has been around for decades.

FWIW Maxwell it wouldn't have worked on my xm either. That was a 2 plus pull gem almost every time!

It's not worth it Dan, i'm on 4 different forum's (not all sledding) and S&M is out right the most disrespectful out of them. And only a few on here make it that way. I don't even bother reading their post anymore knowing fair well they are attacking your character for you having an opinion. The mentality and maturity shines here. I'm way too busy to bother with that nonsense.
Like anyone else, having fun is one thing but there is a fine line and too many cross it. Must be that Key board thing cause i know 99% of things would not be said in person.

Take it this way, we are all different and ride differently, KB like a lot of people on here can ride a 2stroke and rack on mile after mile with no problem and i'ed be willing to bet she could do that on any brand. Me on the other hand after 30yrs of sledding i can also tell you i burn down 2stroke within 2000k no matter what brand it is. I have never had one live beyond that, its just that simple for me. Yes go ahead there old man hammer me for that.
I personally know you Dan and i can assure you your not NARROW or CLOSED MINDED, farthest from it.

BTW, on the subject, the new starter tech is very cool. thank's BRP.
