I was hoping for a cast magnesium bulk head.....

I am more interested in the changes they won't talk about in the release.

They must have changed something in the bulk head?

They must have changed something in the clutching?

What did they change?

How does a freeride bulkhead compare to a regular summit bulkhead?

It will look cool when on fire,,,just add water
hehe...could be a issue when you have a heat source known as the pdrive!

Magnesium is pretty darn brittle. Good reason why it's only use on areas which are not stress members

That information will come out today in the seminars for the dealers. Product launch video's never cover last years problems.

Please post the changes/updates. Maybe there is a pot of gold at the end of Doo's game changing rainbow.
If they actually fixed the problems then sled would be awesome!
I might even stop beating on Doo in my posts.

The day that Maxwell admits to these issues or doo's imperfections and Norona puts out a real video on issues hell will have frozen over.........twice.
Those two will be whacked out of shape on doolaid snowcheck hype for the next two months like last year. lol

Reality is spoken by Snopro.
Let's see what he has to say in the next day or so on the dealer review.

If you look through pics from the show they have reinforced the bulkhead for 2018 Summit and Freeride models with add on plates. Our guys are saying kits will be available for 2017 models but there is no clarification thus far whether this is a warranty recall or a preventative fix. I think Dealers will vent and a decision will be made at that point? Just speculating from my own previous experience. Same with clutching. They say they will have revamped gearing/clutching calibration for 2018 but no info on whether this will be a warrantable retrofit for 2017 models? All the info I am getting is bits and pieces as the guys have seminars back to back and meetings with there sales DM's. I will pass on any info I get. Hope that helps.

The upgrades won't be announced till the paperwork hits the dealers in the summer.

The 2012 etec engine and the clutching were totally different than the 2011.

Thank-you!

This site is full of bull****, but this is info I can take to the bank.

Keep it coming.

Anyone find the pictures of the bulkhead reinforcements?

Well Doo has changed things after the dealer meeting, and after the snow snow check program is over in the past, keep this in mind.

What I found out thus far.

A short summary:

-updated bulkhead with more metal in key areas
-reinforcement plate added. Plate appears to fit 2017s
-brp claim of only 60 known bulkhead failures, all related to impacts

-new belt for 2018
-new inner sheave on primary with an integrated fan for airflow
-new cvt cover for better cooling

-new scratcher design for better durability

-shot start is a factory option only and cannot be added to existing sleds.

There is even the maxwell removable snow flap for the linq system.

In fairness, Dave did post a video addressing the underhood foam / bulkhead issue and advising owners take corrective action.

I think the fact doo did the reinforcement of the bulkhead, clutch cover and belt changes on the 18 are words enough that Norona and Maxwell and the other cheerleaders really don't need to say anything.

It proves what many have said all along. There are issues that needed addressing, and more than enough to warrant changes. Even if doo only admitted to 60 bulkheads and wrote them off as collision related. No saying the degree of the collisions though so a bit of a political face saving admission. I know of a couple that were not caused by anything that should have even done the slightest bit of damage.

At least they are doing something. On to the next year!!

Both what we were told skeg
Did they make any mention at the dealer meetings of why they went away with differentiating the Freeride/XRS and Summit/MX? They are more similar than they've ever been. I'd have to guess it's because they don't have or want to release their new RS chassis yet for advantages in racing, maybe we will see a thicker front end like previous models without it being noted at this time. Curious if they had any explanation to this.

Thanks for all the great info you provide on this site. Much appreciated!
