2018 m8000 31"
2017 G4 850 34"

Now that's interesting, not to deviate from the subject but, after seeing this i decided to measure the SW in the exact location, 32". And at its very widest 33" which is slightly more forward then the measurement taken at 32".

My understanding is these new 18 Cat and the SW are using the same plastics but the running boards on the Cats are slightly narrower then the SW. That explains the 31" vs 32".

In them hills.
I am digging the suspension package on the mountain cat.

Fox Float QSL Rear Track Shock

For 2018 Arctic Cat and Fox build upon the pioneering QS3 shock technology with the all-new Float QSL rear track shock for improved deep-snow performance on mountain sleds. The QSL features 1-2- L compression settings that correspond to light, medium and “locked” calibration. In deep snow conditions, the L-position prevents too much rear-arm squat and exaggerated ski lift, for greater control and performance. The L-position is not fully locked: there’s a blow-off point in the valve to prevent damage to the shock during severe compression. A dial mounted on the remote reservoir can easily and quickly be turned to customize the compression calibration for riding conditions and intensity. It utilizes a remote reservoir for fade-free performance. It comes in a 1.5-inch diameter body. It’s exclusive to Arctic Cat and comes on select M Series machines for 2018.

Was hoping for bit more power but looks like cat has made some good improvements other places. Should be playfull in the trees. Can't wait to try it out.

With those new clutches, I'd be curious to hear why guys would choose a sidewinder over a king kat. And I'm not knocking the Yammy, I'm just curious to hear some thoughts.

That's pretty funny but lets be honest the M-series was the best mountain chassis until the Pro came out in 2011

He is 100% correct. M was hands down the best until 11. And Do probably did sell more in Canada, I was on an XP back in those days and thought it was the best thing going. Then I pulled my head out of my A$$. Doo was the king of marketing an brainwashing people, that's why they sold so many.

It really is. The XP looked cool and that was it. Still running carbs when everyone else had fuel injection, unreliable motor, and flat footed junk that didn't hold an edge well. Pretty incredible marketing.

Chrysler marketed the hell out of the K-car and they sold a zillion of them.....just because they had the market share for those few years, the car was still a cheap POS......

Well here's a couple facts to put out there
1: the doo 800 did have carbs until they felt the etec (superior to plain old FI by every magazine Tester EVER) was tested enough to release to the public......pretty much what Cat has done with their new DSI 800 but you all praise them for taking their time to bring it to market....kinda hypocritical No?

2: the 800R isn't overly unreliable as its basically the same motor as in the etec with different fuel delivery system and there's tons of those running with a lot of miles on them.

3: the XP chassis did suffer from being harder to side hill due to the fact it was designed as a trail sled (which it absolutely outclassed every other sled makers offering at the time) and huge sales for BRP which in turn allowed them to create the XM chassis which was a huge step in the right direction.

4: Fast forward to the the Gen 4 designed from the ground up to be a mountain sled......does it have issues.....I don't own one but I think one would have to be blind to think it doesn't. Ski Doo will get there with constant refinement year after year.....much like your beloved ProClimb chassis from 2012 thru it's latest incarnation.

Don't you think for one second if it wasn't for sales of the K car or maybe the Dodge Caravan there would have been a budget for say.....the Viper V10? Kind of amazed how little some of you understand about business.....Guess that's why we all can't be our own bosses.
