broke trail into keyhole the other day (dec/1) took almost 5 hours to get to the alpine, lots of big rocks and covered little trees. probed 90/95cm up top. would wait for a bit more snow before going again.

We were up in Keyhole on Sunday, the last 3 km of the trail certainly had its rough spots. Once we got in only checked out the north side, one of our crew bounced of a rock, and I lightly hit a few. Decided to head down, was good to show the area to peeps though. Didn't check out the south side.

The forecast is not awesome for new snow over the weekend, so we are doing the best with what we have and enjoying the beautiful sunshine. Alpine snow levels are hovering around a meter after some strong settlement. Overall, conditions are still very thin.

But all is not lost, there is some good news! We intend on having the Allan Creek trail groomed up for Saturday the 8th if all goes well, and barring any unforeseen circumstances. We are gambling that we get some snow mid next week before the trail ices up. Please go easy on the trail and try to be as gentle as possible on the way up to prevent any icing.

With no new snow in the forecast and only Chappell and Allan accessible, it is extremely important that everyone fully complies with all wildlife boundaries and restrictions. In times of low snow, these areas can be tempting, but any use of these areas is not only illegal, but also extremely detrimental to our cause of protecting our ride areas. Please help with education and self policing while out in the field.

No cool pics this week so inserted a bit of humor instead.....

Shes is thin out there folks. Traveled the front side of Allan this morning and probed several locations with an average height of 80cms....lots of settlement with the colder weather and clear skies. Groomer is working the Allan trail right now. Hopefully the sugar sets up for decent trail tomorrow. Please go easy on the trail. Also noted that the Allan Cabins door is jamming....I wont be able to get to it until mid next week, please be gentle.

Snowpack looked pretty sturdy by the test that Marshall did. Thanks guys, put on the hula skirts and get at it!

The weather forecast for the week is looking to improve riding conditions drastically. It’s about time that we see the return of winter to the area.

We have been able to get the Allan and Chappell Creek riding areas in groomed condition despite the lower valley snow levels.

The trails are holding up very well considering. Alpine riding conditions are still slim with an overall shallow snowpack, but hopefully this week brings the change we are all waiting for.

We are planning for a wood run at Allan on Wednesday afternoon. If you see a couple old farts cutting firewood at the cabin:chainsaw:, please lend a hand for a few minutes. Every little bit helps.

Please be aware of your location at all times. Allan and Chappell Creek are surrounded by wildlife closures and any infraction is extremely detrimental to our cause of protecting our ride areas. We are in a very sensitive state in the province right now and it is more important than ever to show what good stewards the snowmobile community is. Please help with education and self policing while out in the field.

Big thanks to Boosted Imagery for the live update of the Chappell parking lot. Things are looking up in a big way! Old man winter is back and he's mad!
