So who has some clutching wisdom they would like to share for my 16' 153 LTD. I am currently geared up with dalton weights. My sled is the early build with 43 degree helix. I have geared it up already.
That's doesn't tell us much, what are you wanting, you not liking how it works?
Isn't a straight 36 degree helix best for non-boosted setup? Or do the team clutches work better with 43...
Clode, I’ve spent a lot of time and money on clutching my 16. Can you provide me with;
-any motor changes you’ve done. Rk-Tek stock compression head
-How many gram weights your at no Dalton fully loaded at 2400ft 8100rpm, less a gram at 6000ft 8050rpm. I will check the base weights when home.
-Springs (stock, or aftermarket/rate) Stock springs, early build LTD with 43degree helix
-elevation 2400-6500ft max
-belt OEM that the sled came with, check the number when home
-current rpm, WOT loaded? mentioned above
-fuel Shell 91
-electric start? Nope
Stock gearing in the chaincase, 8tooth drivers installed and a 3" powerclaw.
Keep in mind, cats speedos are not accurate to begin with. I too believed strongly that there was a lot more I could have achieved through my secondary, when actual fact, I wasn’t loading the motor enough. I was trying very hard to hit 50mph in a climb, and tops I could only get to 46mph. Then I realized my speed sensor was wrong for my gearing and driver changes lol.
If there’s any other info you can provide, or what exactly you think your needing or wanting.
Thanks I will get more info when I get home
Nope don’t need more info. All good. Honestly, your tapped and won’t improve on this set up. I imagine you are seeing 40mph track speed in a loaded climb WOT, when in actual fact your closer to 44-45mph actual. Though, I am curious how many grams your at. Fully loaded? 74 or the 77,s?
The only thing i liked more, was mildly stiffer springs, with a 42 helix, but I was pushing a little more ponies. Down the road, if you keep the sled and have to upgrade your primary, buy the 18 roller, and change your helix to a 48
