I have a 174 x 2.5 x 16 on a 2012 etec ( stock motor) and don't pull up beside it with a stock ,not geared and clutched 800.
They work vey well but you notice the extra length competed to a 163.
Ran a 2.5 than 3 and back to 2.5 as the 2.5 is the best all around .
The 3 isn't for me due to its very heavy and causes more heating problems.
I think going shorter with 3 inch you need a different skid also to keep front end in check .
But that's just me and a lot of riders like that riding around on the back axle.

I think we will see a re-vamped hood, that doesn't weigh like 30 pounds and a glove box that actually gets warm.. Dess key relocation, a simple- light-adjustable skid geometry (turn of a lever to let out or suck in front limiter strap)to accomodate from powder to trail conditions.

be honest!!!!;)
Bring your 163 out for a ride and see if you can go some where I cant...lol Honestly a 163 will not get you ANY farther in deep snow than a 154.... But again what do I know. I may acctually go back to a 163 for next season, but 174, no way in hell....

I agree with you, a lighter hood/headlightassembly. And a dess key relocation is a must! Always getting tangled on the bars on tight corners

Seems like every piece of gear I see has the tether loop on the left side, so I wish the XM's tether was on that side.
