I'm trying to figure out what's wrong with my left turn signal for my trailer wiring. I have no left turn signal or brake light on my trailers, and yes I've hooked three different trailers to it, they all do the same thing. A couple of months ago I blew the fuse for that turn signal, and replaced it. Now the fuse is good but I've lost the turn signal again. Anybody else have this problem?

Truck probably needs a new plug. Or has a broken wire to the left turn signal in the plug.

We tested the plug on the bumper and the one in the box today they're both good.
We put Power to the plug in the Box and plugged the trailer into the bumper and the turn signal would work. We also check connectivity at the fuse box and that seems to be okay as well

Hook the scanner up and wipe the code. TIPM won’t turn the power back on till you do.

I thought that maybe what it was, from the reading I did on it last night. I'll give it a try thanks!

You probably won’t be able to use a little generic obd one tho, need something that can get into the tipm/bcm.

Had the same issue in my 2012. On one of your trailers you have a short to ground. When that happens the TPIM senses it and essentially shuts of the trailer lights as they are independent of the vehicle lights. You need unhook the batteries to rest the TPIM, I let it sit for minutes, reconnect the batteries and try the plug with a test light and it should work. You will need to find the short to ground on the trailer or it will happen as soon as you plug the trailer in.

I think Mr Hymankd is on to something here. Every problem I ever have with 12 volt wiring is due to a bad ground. Haven't had issues with my Ram because of that ...yet anyway.

A bad ground and a short to ground are very different problems! But your probably right about your comment on “hymanykd”. His information is probably legit!

It aligns with the post from Bustedx2. About a Ti?? Shutting down the circuit. They both post options to reset, But the battery disconnection option sounds free to try! (I do have a 2015 Ram so thanks for the info incase I ever pinch my wiring).

But now I’m wondering if “hymanykd” is a new alter ego for a sobered up Kanedog. He was giving away his plant!

It means a totally integrated power module. It’s essentially a computer controlled fuse box. It monitors resistance on circuits and shuts them down if the load isn’t correct in either direction. Chrysler does use a fuse for the trailer circuits, but the power to the relay is controlled by the tipm. A tipm also allows for multiple circuits to be triggered by a single wire on a can-bus, based on different trigger resistances.

Only issue with disconnecting your batteries to clear codes is that every time you do, you actually set passive codes in some modules for lost communication on a data buss. It works, but can create issues as well.

You could very well be right. However I pull 4 different trailers with that truck so I'll have to figure out which one is the problem. This should be fun if it's intermittent.

I did try disconnecting the batteries for 20 minutes but it didn't do squat
Unless of course the trailer I had hooked up is the problem. It is my newest trailer though so I wouldn't expect it to be an issue yet... but stranger things have happened

Funny you say that, I owned a Ford Diesel and I had exactly that problem... I was thankful when it started
To be honest my duramax's have been the most reliable so far

Cummins diesel is a great power plant. Rest of the truck is meh. Ask me how I know lol. Just put a transmission in my 2015.
