Alpine riding remained very good over the weekend as the sun came out full force. The alpine riding areas do need a reload and it may be happening right now as we are getting sprinkles of lower valley rain for the next few days. As of right now, our trails still have full cover from the staging areas and all our groomers are operating. We intend to run the full fleet through the Easter weekend. Any changes to this plan will be followed by a current update of trail conditions and the grooming plans.

As we are getting warmer and warmer weather with the incoming of spring, we may begin to see natural hazards such as creeks, sink holes etc. on the trail and in the alpine so please ride in control and to the trail conditions.

It’s still a complex winter snowpack at higher elevations. We’re looking at a significant change in weather, essentially moving from winter to spring. The snowpack hates big changes and this warming means buried weak layers will become easier to trigger. Please ride AWARE. Read the conditions carefully at Avalanche Canada before you head out. Observe and assess as you move through terrain and know where you are in relation to the hazards noted from Avalanche Canada.

Quick little update from our research trip this morning. Our trails have full coverage from the staging areas at this time and all groomers are still running. Minimal new snow in the alpine and riders should be expecting spring like conditions although things can change quickly.

Here is a link to a quick video update from today.

A little observation from TPOW at ground zero,
Rained late yesterday afternoon and through the night with temps below zero it left a snow line at about 4000 ft . Calling for more precip today /tonight .

Wish we could have stayed but this damn work thing.. Anyways we were in Milledge yesterday dumped hard all day. All tracks buried met Vern the groomer at the alpine. There snow was waist deep. Lucky riders who get to tear it up once the sun breaks out. Play Safe!! Things are sluffing. Rode Lucille earlier this week big fractures.

Spring riding seems to have set in. The riding areas have been holding good snow although it has been quite variable depending on location. Chappell creek seems to have received the largest dose out of the Valemount areas and it still holding very good snow.

As of right now, our access trails still have full cover from the staging areas and all our groomers are operating.

ALL THREE AREAS WILL BE GROOMED UP AGAIN TONIGHT.

Sorry Terry...no pics too busy riding

Well heading out before noon. Not sure if I can remember how to do this. Last trip was mid December. How sad is that. Taking a some newbies. A 14 and 17 year old and another fella that has never been. Looks like sunscreen may be required.

Rode West Ridge for 2 days. Good conditions up top, about half foot to a foot new stuff. Lots of signs tho of guys poking hills followed by slides, some bigger slides were seen one the second day. Trail should be ok for another week to get up. Awesome park job also for whoever blocked off a good part of the access on Saturday with the trailer.

With a week of pure sunshine and over 12 degree temperatures forecasted, we are unsure of the future of the grooming program.

We should be able to do Allen Creek at the very least for the upcoming weekend and will be inspecting Clemina and Chappell Creek later this week.

All trails still have direct access from the staging areas although Clemina is getting quite thin with some open patches to the 1k marker.

Allen and Clemina were groomed up last night and will be in good shape throughout the week.

Enjoy the sun and ride safe.
