Come one.......they havent changed the chassis, they have tweaked it with a wobbly skid and a flex track. I have aftermarket suspension on mine that I think works better than the XMs I have rode. Yes the engine has changed, but my Ptec with a 14:1 head still out does any XM I have been around. Like I said, my sled isnt completely stock. I have Toms suspension, evol Rs, 2.5 Challenger extreme, 14:1 head, can, roosterbuilt clutching, airframes, rave mod, 2 wheel kit, S36, and probably a few other things so its not apples to apples. All Im saying is that the XMs I have ridden arent night and day enough to make me want to switch yet. If they lost a bunch of wieght I probably would.

k...i own a 2010 and a 2013. if you cant hop on the two and tell a massive difference...well..sorry...i guess...thats weird. not sure whats going on there. ya it sure wont climb any higher thats a fact. so if thats your thing then yes you would be correct it does not go straight up hills any better or faster.

i NEVER understand why people want or think a new chassis is in order. what does that even mean? no one ever gives a reason or examples. they just want a new chassis. what ever the hell that means! a chassis is the tunnel which covers the track. and the bulkhead which holds the motor.....all the friggn same. its the components and the aragement of the components that make the sled what it is. strip them all down to the frames. cat, poo, doo guess what they are identical. but the components installed on the chassis are what make it a better or worse sled

You can do that at the ski-doo website too.... I agree with what you are saying dont get me wrong! This just kind of falls into the same area as unleashing a new motor and everything all at once.... What are they going to do the next??? Gotta keep some cards in the sleeve right

They didn't unleash a new motor for the Summits though. I dont imagine if they put the ACE in a summit people other than trail riders would be chomping to order one with it either.

Okay off to the specialist to see about broken bones for me...everyone play nice. :)

BRP has made changes since 2010 Deaner. Track, rear suspension, engines, ski's, plastic, front end geometry, storage, and options. More than enough for an upgrade. They are targeting the masses and not the one or a few that do heavy mods to older equipment to keep pace. If they had launched the XM in 2011 would you have done all those mods to your 2010? I'm sure your Tom's rear skid purchase was for a straight up application and thats fine but don't tell me it initiates tip better than the T motion. Enjoy your sled. I'm enjoying mine. It makes me young again and a better all around rider. Thanks BRP!.

So.......Scenario.....If you were driving a 600 horspower 1961 dodge challenger with big slicks... a supercharger... nitrous....traction bars etc.etc.etc.etc.................. Would you get into a street race around some corners with a 450 horsepower 2013 stock dodge challenger? Becuase those two cars....like the XM and the XP are only one generation apart.

Different? Yes. Better......I dont think so. But I suppose thats a matter of opinion. I love the way mine handles. But Im a bigger guy so maybe thats the difference.

I would just like to see some meaningful changes before buying something new. More efficient drive system.........you cant argue that the pros are right there with the new cats and doos. And yet they have 20 less hp and a crappy track. I think there are huge gains to be had in doos clutching. Better suspension........torsion springs? Really? And again wieght. Light sleds are fun.

Thats great that you guys are happy with your XMs. They are great sleds. But to say you dont want improvements is crazy.

I wouldnt drive a 1961 dodge challenger. I would sell it because it would be worth millions. The first production challenger wasnt around until 1970?? ;)

edit.....and they are actually 2 generations and 38 years apart so not the best example

I'm not as set as some about wanting changes. But I do know because of my background with BRP engineers that what we want and what we get are 2 different programs especially when you are asking for it every year. I think the XM can still lose some weight without losing structural integrity. Polaris did what we did in 2008 for the most part. And now they are paying for it. There seems to be a fine line on where we can get a mountain sled to a target weight and have reliabilty as well. Do I want a belt drive? Yes. Just not designed like Polaris's. Maybe Polaris wanted to run an idler set up like C3 but couldn't because of patent infringements. We'll never know because they aren't talking. BRP may be smarter to purchase the C3 design instead of building there own. Hey, Polaris has bought out of house tech before and have been happy with it.

you are one unique cat.. LOL
If %80 of people still change it then so be it. Why not have mbrp lead the design on making the can? If I had a Polaris I wouldnt change the can. Why wouldn't I want to save near $300 if the stock can was lighter and had a little brap. Besides in the West we do not have noise restrictions set by the government for off highway vehicles as far as I know. Make it available only to Western dealers.

These are just ideas that float in my head as I waste my days sitting around with a broken leg. For me weight does matter to a point. I am not a huge guy. Sometimes it takes more effort to get a doo including the XM to do a few things I find easier to do on a Pro. I would just like to feel that same ability on the XM.

doolaid is an accessory. Not everyone wants it. Plus I can make a killing selling it as one too.

Deaner. You want a sled that you won't have to mod? Ya, like thats gonna happen.

A stock 2010 compared to a stock 2013 is night and day.

-motor
-rear suspension,
-running boards
-powdercoated tunnels
-skis-
-track-
-snowflap-
-front suspension
-handlebars-
-controls-
-gauges-
-storage-
-seat-
-spindles-
-bodystyle-
- I'm sure there are more

Everyone wants change in chassis, and big improvements, yet on the other side of the coin, the same people biotch about the price going up. Best thing to do is not buy one, and let someone else enjoy it.
