If I get into an area where I can hold the throttle to the bar for long periods, the sled will drop down into limp mode where it only holds 7000 rpm. I have to turn it off and let it cool for a couple of minutes and then it rips again. I know the older XP's did this quicker and easier. The boys at Powder lites recommended the old mod with the new water pump cover and Arctic cat thermoswitch...anyone else experience this?
My sled typically doesn't ever do this, even in really deep pow, just when you get a chance to really stay on the throttle. The temp gauge never reads hot or flashes.

My brothers sled started doing that as well after the first 14 reflash. He got the second 14 flash and it hasn't done it yet.

I change the clicker settings depending on conditions/elevation and it works great 95% of the time, it's only when I get into an area where I can be pinned for long periods, right to the bar for 5 minutes straight without letting off.

Caper, I have not had any reflashes done yet as the sled works and pulls awesome, this is just an isolated incident so I'm not sure if a reflash would work?

To the bar for 5 minutes is "not recommended" for any 2 stroke engine. Pipes get hot, especially if there is snow packed into the nose. This may trip it into limp mode.

5 minutes is a real long time. I have road some pretty big glaciers and even then maybe 2 minutes was the longest I have ever been on the bar. Maybe your sled is protecting itself so if you plan on being wide open that long maybe run some av or race fuel.

Yea on deep pow days I have had it to the bars for 5mins+ and it eventually backs off the timing and you get a power drop,,, saving you from killing the motor
