Amazing day in Chapel today. Lots of untouched honey holes with bumper to waist deep pow. We took Curtis' (Varda?) advice and "stuck to low angle, and worked on our dangle."
Trail was beat but we expected that as it should be groomed tomorrow night as per www.ridevalemount.com?

Another awesome day in the Valemount area. The recent small storms have reloaded the riding areas with up to 30cms of fresh on top of the snow that fell over the last weekend. Trails are setting up well for this late in the spring and we even have a bit of sun forecasted for the weekend.

Still a tricky and touchy snowpack, so a conservative approach to terrain selection is needed for sure.

Allen, Clemina and Chappell Creek will all be groomed up fresh tonight!

Tomorrow is Customer Appreciation Day at Allen Creek, so if you are in the area, pop by the cabin for a quick lunch on Alpine Country Rentals and VARDA

The pics above are from Chappell today although there are great reports from all areas once you get into them a ways. Chappell would be good again tomorrow for sure, but there are definately some tracks.

How is the riding in early April? Never been out that late in the year, worked too much this year, we want to hit the hills April 12 weekend, what does avalanche conditions look like now a days, do they get worse the later in the year? Or does it get sticky and hold together?

Lots of questions there that require detailed and timely answers. Please give me a call Wednesday at 2505664817 and we can chat. Short story is that you will be fine for snow in mid April as we typically groom until mid april.

Hey everyone... Looking for an update on avalanche conditions. I haven't made it up to Valemount yet this year.. Our last trip was cancelled due to high risk. What's it like at Clemina right now? Any info would be appreciated!! Thanks!

Check out Avalanche.ca for the most up to date conditions. You can search for any ride area and it will be broken down into Simple, challenging and complex areas. Don't take any ones word for what the conditions are.... Do your own research, check the snow pack and make your own conclusions on how much risk you are willing to take on. Use your AST skills.
